    Default My arsenal...

What else would you expect my first thread in the forum to be?

My baby. Stag Arms AR-15 with all kinds of aftermarket shit on iot. Im almost done with it and once I am, Im getting another AR and Its gonna have a 37MM flare launcher on it.

M1 Carbine. All original. This was my grandfathers in WWII.

Savage 110 chambered in .30-06 with a Nikon Buckmasters 4-14X scope

    Good ol double barrel.

    7mm Mauser

    8mm Mauser

    Pistols.

From the top: 1911 .45 ACP (Also my grandfathers from the war), Taurus PT100 .40 S&W (This is my nightstand gun), S&W Model 659 9mm, Kel Tec P11 9 mm (This is what I keep in my car), and the one to the right is my Browning Buckmark .22 with a red dot scope on it.

I have a few more rifles, including a Carcano (Same gun Lee H. Oswald used on JFK) but it needs some work.
So lets see what you got.

I like how you use a pistol to prop up your rifles.

So I just ordered some new parts for my AR-15. I ordered a Daniel Defense 12.0 Lite rail system, the gas block to go under it, a new flash suppressor, and the tool I need to change the rails.

Nope. Most people think is not good to hunt with that caliber. Its pretty small. It shoots .223, which is the same size as a .22 but with much more power behind it. People take deer with them, but you need a perfect shot to the heart or the head. Which is hard because deer always move. Plus the hole it leaves is small, leaving not much blood to track from, and if you dont find the deer, then he could just die somewhere.

The Savage 110 is my deer rifle.

I have never understood the need for assault weapons. Like seriously. If you can't do it with one bullet, then don't do it all at all as my granddad says.

But hey, what kind of scope do you have on that pistol? It looks pretty steep.

I'm glad. I was just checking because of the picture of the deer on it.

I used to hunt with a .22 and never had any problems.

I mean I like my .270 much better but the power of the .22 was never the issue.

I think the AR-15 would be pretty sweet in .308. Do they make these? What are your thoughts on them?

They make them in all kinds of calibers. .308 is a popular one and is actually being adopted by some US Special forces.

Some other popular ones are 6.8 SPC, .458 SOCOM, and .50 BEOWULF. You can also get them in a few pistol calibers like 9 mm and .40 S&W.

.458 SOCOM is the mother of all AR15s.

6.8 SPC has the same recoil as a .223 but alot more knockdown.

.308 is a sniper bullet, and its the shit upclose too.

    Id pick from those three.

An AR-15 is very much an assault rifle. It's just a semi-auto M16/M4.

It doesn't have the fun lever, so it's not an assault rifle.

Calling semi auto firearms "assault rifles" is just something the ignorant media started doing.

You wouldn't put a lawn-mower engine in a corvette and call it a sports car.

It would still be a sports car imo. Just with a lawn-mower engine in it.

An AR-15 is an assault rifle, it's just missing the lever. When you switch an M16 to semi-auto, does it cease to be an assault rifle at that very moment?

That's the whole point. Its not an assault rifle.

No, because it still has the capability to be automatic.

Technically, it's when something is select fire, so I guess a rifle capable of burst fire, but not fully auto is also an assault rifle.

    No it does not.

That is a HUGE misconception. AR-15s and Ak-47s are not easy at all to convert to fully auto.

And you can make any gun full auto if you want. But you will need to know your shit and have a machine shop.

I think he thought the other guy meant "flip the selector switch from >>>> to >"

    not convert it.

Well, I don't have pictures at the moment, and most of the ones I have are a few years old anyway. Since putting on a uniform, I have slowly decreased my amount of "cool guy" weapons. The MAK-90, FAL, and HK91 are long gone, and the AR is still lacking an upper. Call me lazy, but I just didn't "feel" a need to spend hundreds on an upper when I had perfectly good M4s and M14s to play with at work. Now that I am away from small arms (though I did get to fire blanks from a 75mm cannon last weekend at the Red Stick Bowl), I may have to start building up my collection again. Another FAL and Kalashnikov are on the list to eventually buy, and the Bushmaster lower is getting lonely. Besides, I have too many M4 goodies that are sitting around unused and are worth far more than a stripped upper would cost.

Those are some nice weapons, and easily rival most of mine now. The last new gun I bought was that pink rifle. A pink 10/22 may be purchased for the youngest kid. Gives me an excuse to buy a gun and talking about buying a baby girl a rifle is a sure conversation starter.

Once I get back down there and get everything moved I'll be sure to get some pictures of various firearms from my collection. Also, if I ever put other bs on the backburner I'll share my new purchases. I re-upped in 2004 for $7000 and bought my $750 Para. Since last November, I've received over $30k in bonuses and travel pay and bought a $150 rifle. Then again, I also bought a truck and house...

I'm seriously thinking about buying a FAL.

I had my eye on a Bulgarian AK, but some guy had a really nice FAL and after I played with it, I wanted to buy one.

    that sentence was hardly commonsensical.

I'm diggin' the AR, dude, but I have to say... tan furniture? =\
It looks very light and pointable, though. Have you checked out Magpul's stuff? Their pistol grips and stocks are certainly interesting.

Yes, .308 ARs exist, but you can't convert an AR-15 to fire .308. .308 ARs are called AR-10s, and are awesome. KAC makes them (SR-25, and like $8k) and DPMS makes them too.

An assault rifle is a full auto or select fire firearm chambered in an intermediate rifle cartridge. The pictured AR is not, since it's not full-auto or select fire and can't be readily restored to fire in bursts or f.a--if it did, it would be worth like $15k and there would be a LOT of paperwork behind it... or it would be VERY illegal. The pictured rifle is what I like to call a sports-utility rifle, because it's good for both sports and utility.

That is a Magpul CTR stock, and a Magpul MOE grip. Both in Flat Dark Earth.

Those tan and black mags are also Magpul Pmags.
