    Default new video card (opinions?)

Ive pretty much narrowed down my choices for a new video card, Im thinking of purchasing the Sapphire 4870 or the 4850x2.

Currently I have a 8800GT from EVGA and I think Im going to move away from Nvidia's cards (GTX 260/280, and the 295 is more than I want to spend) this time.
The 4850x2 is impressive, and from what Ive read, its a big competitor to the GTX 280 in benchmarks. BUT it has DDR3 instead of DDR5 like in the 4870. I found much more information on the 4870 instead of the 4850x2 and am considering just getting the 4870 over the 4850x2.
    Your thoughts?

I personally have the 4870 and it's been absolutely great. There is absolutely no game that I can't play on high settings with it, and it's also quite quiet. I don't really know much about the 4850x2, but I'd suggest the 4870 since it seems to be cheaper and there's no reason it wouldn't be adequate for your gaming needs.

I have the sapphire 4870 and my girlfriend is starting to think I'm gonna run away with it. Go get it.

I think he wants to spend less than $300.

I would personally go with a 4870 instead of the 4850, simply because I'd have to deal with just one GPU instead of two. I'd imagine OCing to be easier, along with cooling.
