Default Harvin jumps to NFL, Spikes returns to Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida star Percy Harvin is taking his speed, elusiveness and durability concerns to the NFL.

The junior playmaker said Thursday he is leaving school early to turn pro, but Gators linebacker Brandon Spikes will return for his senior season.

Both players announced their intentions hours before the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft.

Even without Harvin, the Gators likely will be the preseason favorite to win a third national championship in four years. But there's little doubt Florida will miss its do-it-all receiver.

A 5-foot-11, 195-pound dynamo from Virginia Beach, Va., Harvin led the team in receiving and was second in rushing. He caught 40 passes for 644 yards and seven touchdowns, and ran for 660 yards and 10 scores.

Losing Harvin will definitely be a blow. However, with our plethora of players, I don't think we'll miss him too much. With Demps, Rainey, Murphy, etc. I think we have enough talent to make up for it.

Harvin will be a great player in the NFL in my opinion. I personally think he's better than Crabtree in athleticism and speed.

As for Spikes, the heart of the defense is staying. He is the D's Tebow. He fires them up. He'll definitely be a first round pick next year.

Unfortunately Florida is looking like they're going to be a National Championship team again next season.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing.

Well it is for me, because it's pretty likely that the SEC championship will be Florida/Bama again next season.

I'm thinking LSU will have a strong team next season. Maybe I'm starting to think it'll be Bama/Georgia for the SEC championship.

Don't underestimate Tennessee next year. I know they might not have looked like much this year, but Lane Kiffin has put together a fucking beast of a coaching staff. I mean, seriously, a fucking beast.

If they can get their QB situation fixed, then I might quiver a bit.

They'll be good in 2, maybe 3 years. I'm not holding my breath for next year though.

The SEC isn't going to win the National Championship next year.

And of all the players coming and going to the NFL, only a bandwagoning Florida faggot like tidus would think this was important enough for its own thread.

Players of more importance who recently made announcements:

Andre Smith (Alabama), Knowshon Moreno (Georgia), Sam Bradford (Okalhoma), Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma), Matthew Stafford (Georgia), LeSean McCoy (Pitt), Colt McCoy (Texas), Greg Hardy (Ole Miss), CJ Spiller (Clemson), Jermaine Gresham (Oklahoma), Sergio Kindle (Texas), Asher Allen (Georgia), Glen Coffee (Alabama), Beanie Wells (Ohio State), Shonn Greene (Iowa), Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech), Jeremy Maclin (Missouri), Jared Cook (SCar), Captain Munnerlyn (SCar), Mark Taylor (USC), and Mark Sanchez (USC)

I was seven fucking years old! Are you that fucking arrogant? You're going to fucking insult someone for starting to like a team as a kid and then sticking with them for a decade and a half? Way to really be an asshole.

My favorite teams are the Titans and the 49ers, and I like them whether they are horrible or not, in spite of them breaking my heart year after year.

I also have a soft spot for the Eagles, the Texans, and the Lions because they are the little engine that can't quite, the little engine that should be able to but can't, and the little engine that can't.
