    Default Mixing memory

My buddy has 2 2gb memory sticks he's willing to see to me. My motherboard supports 8 gbs and I have 2 1gb sticks in dual channel right now. My question is, is it alright to have 2gb in the one set of dual channel and the 4gb in the other set of dual channel or would it be better to just use the 4gb and sell off the 2gb? Thanks

As long as the ram has a common speed and latency, there should be no problem if your system is running at stock speeds. On a side note, I think older systems will be forced to run in 2T mode, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Besides, I'm pretty sure 2GB DDR sticks are rare.

PS, I hope you have a 64 bit OS.

Yeah I plan on installing Vista 64 bit with the memory upgrade.
