    Default Favorite Movie/TV scene.

What is your all time favorite scene in Movie/TV history and why? It doesn't really matter whether it be in a comedy, romance, documentary, action, tragedy or family movie or tv show.

Mine is(and most will probably hate me for it) the random dancing scene from Clerks II, simply because it was such a upbeat moment that it made half the theater bob their heads and almost made some start to dance.

I still love the opening scene in Super Troopers. I've never been able to watch that and not laugh. Aside from that, the training montage in Rocky IV is up there because if I ever need motivation, that's it. It's hard to pin down just one favorite moment, but I'm going to go with the Super Troopers scene on this. (yes candy bars)

The last scene of the episode "My Lunch" of Scrubs, when patients are crashing after receiving rabies from hasty transplants. The Fray's "How to Save a Life" plays in the background as Dr. Cox loses his last patient and he destroys the room and as he walks out, J.D. says, "As soon as you start blaming yourself for people's deaths, there's no coming back" and Cox replies "Yeah. You're right" and walks out of the hospital.

Great episode, but even better scene.

The Passion of the Christ when they parallel Jesus falling as a child and as an adult while carrying the cross and Mary sees this and runs to help him. Say what you will about the movie/religion but that was a touching scene.

    +1 for Cox.

    Fuck. I have so many.

The scene in the episode of Buffy "The Body", which is the one in which they deal with the death of Buffy's mother, where Anya breaks down. Anya used to be a demon, so she doesn't know much about the world of human interactions (and on top of that used to be evil). When she unknowingly asks inappropriate questions and is scolded, she breaks down, asking why they're inappropriate and what she's supposed to do with all these new feelings about the first real death she's had to deal with in her 1100 years.

Anya: Are they gonna cut the body open?
Willow: Oh my God! Would you just... stop talking? Just... shut your mouth! Please!
    Anya: What am I doing?
Willow: How can you act like that?
Anya: Am I supposed to be changing my clothes a lot? Is that the helpful thing to do?
    Xander: Guys—
    Willow: The way you behave—
    Anya: Nobody will tell me.
Willow: Because it's not okay for you to be asking these things!
Anya (almost crying): But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's-- there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore! It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why! (She puts her hand over her face, crying, and sits down.)

The scene ends with an almost-joke -- a callback to the scene immediately before Anya's that's just funny enough to make the scene all the more heartbreaking.

This scene has got me closer than any other scene of anything to actual tears.

EDIT: Anya has a lot of force in that episode. Later on, meeting Buffy in the morgue:

Anya (loudly): I wish that Joyce didn't die...
    (Everyone looks at her.)
Anya (more softly):...because she was nice. And now we all hurt.
Xander (apologetic): Anya, ever the wordsmith.
    Buffy (to Anya): Thank you.

Oh man both of those HIMYM scenes are fantastic.

    For me...

In Dexter, where Doakes is on to Dexter and he headbutts him in his office then walks out like nothing happened.

Aw man. I can't believe I didn't mention the scene in Angel's "Smile Time" in which Spike finds out that Angel's been turned into a puppet.

I think I'll have to go with the interrogation scene in The Dark Knight.

Two honorable mentions include the scene in Magic where Anthony Hopkins' character is breaking down and arguing heavily with FATS. That is definitely in the top three finest acting performances I've ever seen, how he didn't even get NOMINATED for best actor that year is beyond me. The other is the scene in Reservoir Dogs when Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) first gets into the warehouse and talks with Mr. White about being setup. That part absolutely hooked me and I love watching it.

    So many!

Diary of the Dead when the troupe is in the hospital and one chick uses the diphibulators to fry a Zombie's eyes.

In the Usual Suspects when they are in the line up and one guy does an air kick and screams "Give me the money you cocksuckers!"

The scene in Casino when they grab the Texan and use his head to open the door.

The Dance of the Dead Zombie love-scene (no necrophile)

And last but certainly not least, the scene in the RocknRolla when the Wild Bunch fights the Russian Heavies.

Ah, The Usual Suspects has so many great scenes. The last scene, where everything falls into place and Verbal Kint turns into Keyser Soze.

    Fucking brilliant.

Great episode, but even better scene.
I saw that one yesterday. It was a good scene. Is it gay that it made me well up a little, tiny bit? I found it to be quite a powerful and emotive scene.

I too havy many scenes which I love. The last march of the ents from LOTR:TTT, when treebeard see's what has happened to his forest then goes apeshit and calls in da troopz. I actually thought this reworking was better than the original way it was written. When he see's what happens and lets out that roar, its like "oh shit son, something is about to go down".

I also enjoy Sam's speech at the end, where he ponders the meaning in their quest and argues that it is important to defend that which is green and good, even Smeagol seems touched by the power of his words. I also like the scene when the exodus from Rohan to Helms Deep takes place and Legolas see's the warg riders coming, the bit when Theoden tells the woman to tend to the people and she looks up at Aragorn as he turns on his horse to go meet them, I fucking love the music playing there. LOTR had one of the best scores I have ever heard, I love just listening to the music.

LOTR:ROTK, the ride to Minas Tirith, when Gandalf and Merry make their way to the city and eventually enter and we are greeted to a nice boom of the ROTK theme music, it hits the spot. I love the ride of the Rohirrim (sp) too, when the riders of Rohan get within site of Minas Tirith and see the scale of the challenge, Theoden readies them and they charge in, its fucking epic. I also love the end when Aragorn is crowned king and everyone bows, then he walks to the hobbits and they go to bow and he stops them and says "You bow to no one" and then bows before them, followed by everyone else, fuck you I cry at that scene lol.

The rape scene from pulp fiction, it cracks me up. Also the scene where Christopher Walken tells a young Bruce Willis aout his dads watch, its a brilliant scene.

The end of the Shawshank redemption, imo probably the greatest movie ending ever, when you see the look on the wardens face and how it all transpired, everything just fell into place so nicely, after so many years in jail for a crime he didn't commit, Andy finally gets his freedom and revenge on the warden. And Red also, he finds redemption through Andy, how he decides to get busy living and goes to find Andy, its fucking awesome.

Thanks for posting that. I love how right at the end Gollum looks down, like he is thinking "the fat one has got a point". Fucking great film, my favourite of the trilogy, its the one that best captured the atmosphere of the book in my opinion.

Other scenes, in the 1989 Batman movie at the art gallery, when the joker has Kim Basinger and all of a sudden Batman comes smashing through the glass ceiling and pulls the gun on the Joker and it shoots out ropes and he escapes leaving the Joker wondering where does he get those damned toys.

Saving Private Ryan, the entire first 30 or so minutes are some of the most intense and realistic war scenes I have ever seen. I also love the ending when Tom Hanks makes Matt Damon promise to do his and his means memory justice by living a good life and he then fades to the old man sobbing at his grave, almost begging for Tom Hanks approval for his life, very touching and indeed powerful.

The scene in the Extras Christmas special towards the end where Ricky Gervais' character talks about the idiocy of the celebrity culture he has gradually become a part of. It's finely written and it's his greatest moment of acting. It shows why he is one of the true greats working today.

Also, from another Christmas special, in The Royle Family where Caroline Aherne's character realises her waters have broken. It's a scene played simply and beautifully and her interaction with Ricky Tomlinson's character feels astoundingly pure.

The only one I can think of from a movie right now (and only because my sister brought it up recently) is the "mad as hell" scene from Network. If you haven't seen it then just fucking watch it. It's possibly even more poignant and relative today than it was when it was made.

What I love about that scene is that it is the most pathetic art gallery ever. One huge room. About 20 paintings/3 statues. And a restaraunt directly overlooking some of the paintings. Why, that's not an insurance issue at all. If someone spilled a little wine down the wall, a priceless painting would be ruined.

PLUS, the dialogue that Bruce Wayne has before that scene is just gold.

[Alfred listens to a recording by Vicky]
Vicky: Hey, Bruce, I'm going to be running a little late to the museum.

[CUT TO: Bruce doing some detective stuff in his office when Alfred rings him.]
    Bruce: Yeah?
Alfred: It appears Miss Vale is going to be running late to the museum tonight.
    Bruce: Thanks, Alfred.
[It takes him a good 5 or so seconds to realize this next bit]
Bruce: Wait, I'm not meeting her at the museum!

    World's greatest detective!

Also, I like how Gotham only has one museum. Otherwise, how would Bruce know where to go to save Vicky?

That is, until the museum opens in Batman and Robin.

The breakfast club creeped me out. I have no idea why.

I'd like to add the scene in which the Captain goes on a defining spree while WALL-e and EVE dance in space, from (obviously) WALL-e. The Captain in that scene reminds me of linksurfing through wikipedia late at night.

Hehe, I do that with the IMDB, playing 6 degrees of seperation. Just think of an actor then I click a link on the main page and try to get to that acros in 6 clicks. It is good fun.

I just watched the movie yesterday night with all the lights off and alone, and it was one of the best experiences ever. The whole movie was so well put together and I liked how they concentrated more on character development than plot. I forgot to mention it was in Blu Ray. Just curious, whoever saw it in theatres, was it better or worse with other people around you and little children and such? Because movies like Friday the 13th are better while Slumdog Millionaire is better without.
