    Default Rome Total War

Anyone play Rome Total War, or have any good recommendations for add-on packs (which you have actually used yourself)? Especially anything that will beef up the quality of the AI.

Let me know if you want to have a bash at it multi.

Supposedly Rome: total realism and Europa Barbarorum are the best for mods although I haven't personally tried either

And what is your name on gamespy? I play under the name of Lime, so hit me up some time.

I've been obsessed with the Total War series since Shogun. Rome is one of my favorites. I've only used Europa Barbororum for a short time, I wasn't really fond of the changes. Its worth giving it a shot though.

Have you played Medieval II? I ordered it because it sounded good, but I don't know if it is.

If you liked the way Rome:Total War changed the map and diplomacy system then you'll love Medieval II. Crusades and Jihads are a lot of fun, but are really tedious and annoying sometimes. I had the most fun chasing the Pope around the world killing him until my Cardinal had enough votes out of bribery or just outright fear that I'd massacre them

My housemates have been playing it recently.
They're obsessed with it. I'd assume its half decent.

Is the game that good? I tried to get into the game but the tutorial just took too long so I gave up. How long does it take to learn how to play?

I'm wondering if this game is worth a re download... i mean install.

Medieval II is a fun game. The campaign where you control what armies to send where is fun but at times can be slow and tedious, though Rise of Nations could take some cues from it. The battles are amazing, but I'm only good at throwing all the units into the fray at once and losing 96% of my soldiers.

Yeah, one thing I like about the series is that it actually matters what side you attack your opponent from.

Medieval 2 is my favourite, probably because I'm rather well-versed in that particular period in history. The only issue I have with it is that the pikemen are ridiculously overpowered, which in turn makes Scotland and France the only factions worth playing in multiplayer (unless the other side has naptha).

I still have it installed on my computer. I never really could get into it. The main campaign was too difficult (for me) and battles required a lot of managing the individual units and stuff. I liked Company of Heroes though, which is slightly similar in that you have to control attack strategy and whatjazz.

Being versed in the history does make it more fun. I want to try Empire: Total War some day, but if it's as big as Medieval II is then it'll be far in the future when I get a new computer.

I'm in a similar position, rome total war is about the most my current pc can cope with, which is annoying.
