    Jesus Christ.

That was hilarious, painful, sad, intriguing and hilarious again.

What the hell is up with him.

It's a hoax that he's pulling off. Think Spinal Tap, but with Joaquin Phoenix and a rap career. Casey Affleck (Ben's little brother, see: Gone, Baby, Gone) is filming a documentary about Joaquin's rap career. Wonder why.

Maybe because it's one big practical joke?

    I find it fuggin' hilarious.

I've wondered about that, and he does have the acting skill to pull something like that off. The thing about it is that I don't know if he would do that since his brother od'd and all. Either way it is fun to watch.

If I could pick one person who would do that, it would be Joaquin Pheonix. He has a really odd sense of humor, but he's one of the funniest actors I've ever seen. This is gonna be epic.

And I love how he keeps drinking Dave's coffee.

    lol, that was pretty funny.

I kind of do think it is an act. It didn't seem.....authentic.

    I could be wrong, but...*shrug*

His behavior is too screwed up to actually BE screwed up. I don't buy it one bit.

Video is down but I found it on the Huffington Post's website.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_166229.html

Wasn't sure if I could embed or not so I didn't even try.

Watching him was pretty amusing but I still have yet to hear his "hip-hop" music.

That was the greatest interview I've seen in a long time. The world has been waiting for something like this for years. It's a genius idea to do because you have a split of people who (probably correctly) think you're taking the piss and the people who think you're just fucked up.

If Robin Williams did this kind of thing then people would immediately smell bullshit and no one would take it seriously but because Joaquin Phoenix is such a serious actor he could actually pull it off properly.

    I, for one, can't wait.

Jaquin Pheonix can pull it off because he has no public personality, no "celebrity", not because he's a "serious actor". 99% of serious actors in Hollywood couldn't do this either.

Yeah, there's that as well, but I mean the serious actor part makes it totally unexpected and leftfield. Obviously you need the talent as well and, like you say, the anonymity.

What are you talking about? Nobody in the entertainment industry does illicit drugs.

Well I've been saying for quite some time now that Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors out there right now, and I think he has the ability to pull it off if it is an act. I'm just wondering if he would pull something like that.

Still doesn't even come close to toppling the king of awkward Letterman interviews: Crispin Glover.

Haha yeah Crispin Glover is one of my heroes. He still denies that it was even him to this day. That guy had to be on unreasonable amounts of acid for that interview.

I'm sorry, he denies... that it was him? He denies that that was him in that interview? He claims that person being interviewed was not him? Crispin Glover maintains to this day that the person being interviewed was someone other than himself?

Well he says that it "May or may not have been him." and he said something about how some people suspect that drugs may have been involved. Yeah...it was him.

    Edit for interview-

If you haven't gathered, Crispin Glover is kind of fucking weird.

i thought that crispin glover was just playing a weird character in his new film, but that film didn't come out for a few years, so people still haven't figured it out

    he is great as Willard

He is great as Willard, but I mean he is always weird. I don't think he would have acted any differently if he wasn't playing a weird character in his new film.

Jim Morrison of The Doors. Who also did the whole long hair and beard thing at the end of his career, became very eccentric and started talking of his increased interest in shamanism, before disappearing and ending up dead and buried in Paris before anyone knew it.

co-incidentally I just visited his grave the other day.
