    Default Converter or Adapter?

I'm in the UK and have been using a converter for my laptop. But I was talking to another student who is studying abroad with me and they said that the cord on my HP says it works for a wide range (100v-240v) and that I should be able to just get an adapter and plug it into the wall.

I'd like to do this as it'd make my charging situation much simpler, but I can't seem to find any documentation other than what it says on my (apparently converter) box part of the cord. Does anyone know if this is safe?

It's always worked for me, going off what's on the adapter. I've charged an ipod, a camera and a shaver on high (well high as in euro versus us) voltage mains anyway.
