guys i don't even like guns

but all of a sudden i actually want that winchester and at least two of those revolvers (the 14-4 and the 17-3)

edit: apparently, honestly expressing my appreciation for something i didn't hold in esteem before is worthy of a negarep. interesting.

You really don't want the Winchester 1903. They stopped making ammunition for it years ago, every once in a while I can find a box but it cost me $20-$30 dollars. in 1936 the 1903 was changed to use more common 22lr and became the model 63.

The S&W M14 and M17 are basically the same revolvers with the 14 being chambered for the .38 Special and the 17 being chambered for the .22lr. They were made that way so you could practice with the cheap .22 and use the more expensive .38 in competitions. They also made a .32 caliber 6" K-frame which is very rare and a Grail for collectors.

You have good taste in shootin' irons. The three 6" wheel guns are my favorite and most accurate handguns. They have put a few trophys on my shelf and are over 25 years old. The little automatic is a good little gun but not even close to the Model 17 when it comes to accuracy.

Newhouse,I love that 52C. What scope is on her? Is that a Lyman or Unertle or something else?

Here is one that will really upset the purists. It's a 1903-A3 made by Remington in 1943. From the style if stock best guess is it was sporterized some time in the late 50s to late 60s when the 1903s were $20 mail order surplus rifles. A nice Remington 1903-A3 in original condition could fetch upwards of $800 today. This mangled old girl was lonely sitting ignored on a table yesterday with a $400 price tag and really needed a good home, after a few minutes of haggling she now wil get the love she so badly deserves.

I have a Winchester Enfield that my dad sporterized for my grandfather 25 years ago. My grandfather said he paid $25 for it at the hardware store and had to make 5 dollar payments on it because he couldn't afford it at the time, its a really nice looking rifle probably worth a couple hundred dollars but I shudder to think what an untouched Winchester Enfield is worth.

I was expecting women to be sucking on barrels of guns and sticking them into their pootangs.

A couple of weeks ago a kid at one of my high schools told me about a rifle her boyfriend had found hidden inside a wall. He also found a pair of hobnailed boots and a 48 star flag. I figured it was a WWII bring-home and managed to tell her it was an Enfield based on her description. I met her an hour later to check out the rifle and found that it was a No.1 Mk III that had been sporterized very similar to Smith's Springfield, albeit sans scope. She mentioned her boyfriend might sell it, I may end up talking to her about it this week.

Not sure I would want him as my JROTC teacher. Their hands were pretty much tied with what they could do.

No, I have to wait until retirement, though it does seem to be a decent job. Continue getting full pay and benefits plus teacher bonuses and raises. Unfortunately the Army had plans that did not include me going back to line Infantry. Now I am going around and helping to mentor civilians.

Well, I can retire from the Army, then retire in as little as ten years as a teacher. Early fifties, two retirement checks, not too bad.

I meant to ask what you mean by "one of my high schools". Does this mentoring gig focus on high school students?
