    Default Firefox broke

Hey guys, I updated to the latest release of firefox, cause I had no choice, and now all my http downloads in firefox don't work and/or download at like 60 bytes per second. Yes, bytes. However, if I use IE my downloads work just fine. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

Stupid questions out of the way first... Did you try a reinstall? Obviously, backup your bookmarks and saved passwords first, but otherwise, it should be fine. I would also possibly suggest, if you use any, to first disable any add-ons you may be using. There might be one in there that's incompatible with the newest release. Greasemonkey perchance, maybe FasterFox?

The only add ons I have are Stumbleupon and DAP (I know, I need to get on the add-on train, any suggestions?), so I don't think they are it. Of course I completely spaced and haven't tried reinstalling yet. How does one backup bookmarks and passwords?

Firefox was causing issues for me today. I reinstalled and it fixed it. I'd start there, and all your preferences/passwords would be saved.

With bookmarks you can just open your bookmarks folder, click export, and save it as an html file.

The profile thing is a little bit more exhaustive, but not too bad. Follow this page and you should be fine, especially if you have passwords you can't remember anymore.

Ad-block and dta is all I find necessary, noscript causes more hassle than it helps; too bad fasterfox doesn't support ff3.

So yeah, I can't believe you don't have the above mentioned yet, go get them.

Reinstalling isn't necessary 99% of the time, since most FF issues are profile related... generally due to extensions corrupting them. Simply creating a new profile fixes most issues.
