Cool Tell me about comic book Wednesday and what to look for next Wednesday

So one of my buddies likes to read comic books but not an abhorrently annoying comic book nerd (no offense), and I just want to know what the hell he is talking about or at least have some discussion with him about that subject. What are some comics to be looking for this Wednesday?

    Guardians of the Galaxy #12
    Immortal Iron Fist #24

    Mighty Avengers #23
    Ms Marvel #37
    New Avengers #51
    Nova #23
    Thunderbolts #130
    War Machine #4
    War of Kings: Darkhawk #2
    X-Force / Cable: Messiah War Prologue One-Shot
    X-Infernus #4
    X-Men Kingbreaker #4
X-Men: Sword of the Braddocks One-Shot
    Jack of Fables #32

Been on a crazy spending spree. Today, I purchased House of M, Civil War, Students for a Democratic Society, and Heroes Volume I and II. Comic book shops feel strangely uncomfortable and I'm cautious to touch things.

Please don't judge comics by the quality of House of M and Civil War.

Also pick up Green Lantern Rebirth if you're picking up trades

I thought Civil War was actually pretty well done. House of M is pretty messy though.

    Cool

I'm not certain how I would critique either book, but I enjoyed them.

Collections of individual comics in a particular storyline. So Green Lantern Rebirth would be a big book with all 6 issues of the Green Lantern Rebirth mini-series in it.

Yeah I bought that yesterday with a lot of other comics. I almost lose control and want to buy everything I see.

Yep. It gets real expensive, real fast.

If you don't have any qualms about downloading comics, /rs/ on 4chan and demonoid are good places to get them. Make sure to download cdisplay to read them.

Honestly, I don't have the money to buy all the comics I want to read, so I figure buying whatever I can and downloading the rest is a good strategy.

What's the advantage of buying the comics? besides a hard copy.

You can lay down and read it, or read it on the shitter. Or maybe it could be worth something(probably not).

    Or to show off.

What Infernus said, plus supporting the company (Which I guess depending on quality is a good thing or a bad thing).

Call me old fashioned, but as convenient as .cbz and .cbr files are, it doesn't hold a candle to the feeling of reading a hard copy of a comic.

I feel the same way. I mean, if I want to read some vintage hard to find things or tie-ins that would be expensive to collect and not worth it for the two important sentences in them, I will download the cbr, but it just isn't the same. Comic books are one thing we shouldn't let technology bastardize.

It is official. War of the Kings is my biggest interest. I'm a fan of Gladiator. Looking for Acension and Dark Hawk but no luck.
