Default Games that deserved a sequel.

For me, there are a few games out there that deserved a sequel but thanks to corporate cannibalism, mainstream rejection, or a variety of other things, didn't get one.The one game I believe deserved a sequel because it was a great RPG (gritty, great character development and fun all around) was Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Seriously, this game was fantastic but unfortunately couldn't beat Call of Duty and several other games that were released roughly the same time. That, coupled with a small target audience, didn't rake in enough sales to please the gamer gods to birth a sequel. A true shame.

Anyway, what game(s) deserve a sequel in your opinion?

Mario seems to be another one of those, which is saying a lot considering there were three on the NES, and one on every Nintendo console since. Though I can understand not thinking Sunshine is better than Mario 64, but it was still fun as hell and the controls were better, and if there was any doubt Nintendo could still make a phenomenal Mario game, they came out with Galaxy which kicks infinite ass.

    dead and buried.
look at all the shitty mario spin offs, and compare it with the decent mario sequels, you'll see what i mean.

I'll actually agree with this. The last Mario game I had fun with was the side scrolling one for the DS. I got bored with Galaxy 20 stars in.

If anyone had a Dreamcast, I'd like to see a new PowerStone, Fur Fighters, and Toy Commander game. They were a bit kiddy sure, but fun as hell.

The last good Mario was Super Mario 64 and I'd still rank Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES higher than it.

Shit, yeah I forgot about this. The last good game that Sonic was in was Smash Bros Brawl. They need to make a good side scroller Sonic game. Although I didn't think the first Sonic Adventure was terrible except for the unnecessary characters nobody cared about.

YES! Wow I totally forgot about that. FF was such a superb game. I'd love to see a sequel.

Also, anyone remember PsyOps? I thought it was a decent game. The powers were pretty cool and it would be nice to see another attempt at that premise.

I've yet to finish that game due to experiencing save ruining glitches twice.

Honestly, I enjoyed Second Sight much more.

It'd be nice to see another Shadow of Colossus, but they say that was a sequel to ICO.

I second PsyOps. I thought that game was pretty bad ass. Also, since I'm still geekin' it out, I'm gonna throw out Planescape Torment. That game was amazing.

Paper Mario 2 was pretty ballin.

That being said, I've always thought that Parasite Eve deserved a proper sequel. Then I could just pretend that the original PE2 never happened.

I thought they released a teaser for a sequel?

There's also a video that has shit happening in a wedding.

    .
Well sure there are always people who don't like change, but the quality has been amazing with each successive Mario game.

Someone mentioned something about Mario spinoffs, I have no idea why as that had nothing to do with anything I said.

Majesty 2, but then I saw a preview in GameInformer yesterday. I had an intense stretch-my-legs-out-and-spread-my-toes orgasm. Yeah, didn't think they would do one for such an amazing fantasy strategy game that came out over ten years ago.

Not that I wouldn't throw a rage-induced shit fit if I head they were making one, but nonetheless, perhaps one of the greatest games ever created, and more than deserving of further attention.

Vampire the Masquerade, I think I might have had that, not sure.

Okami deserved a sequel. It was a shame that it did so poorly in the sales department, it was such a beautiful game that became really compelling towards the end and one I would urge all PS2/Wii owners to go out and get.

Super Mario RPG. Sure, there are the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi games, but Square helped to make SMRPG unique.

Poy Poy 2. Pretty simple Ps1 game where you had 4 characters in a level (arena) and it was like deathmatch except I'm sure you could only be killed once, and the weapons were rocks that you threw etc and special gloves you wore. The concept was brilliant I think they should work on it and release a kick ass new version so I can get really baked and play it for ages.

edit: Also Hogs of War holy shit that game was fucking ace.

We should have a blanket ban on all sequels in the games industry.
We'd lose a couple of good games, maybe; but we'd gain many more.

    Yes.

And yea, for it came to pass that the trousers of 15-35 year old geeks became wet with affection, and the women of the loins that bore them gained knowledge of their exultation on the day of the laundering of their under-roos.

This thread has made me realize that most recently released games almost never get away with not having a sequel.

Bad controls, bugs galore, but the art style and story were awesome.

Oh yes! That was a great game. However, it's also the sort of game that would get a stale sequel completely devoid of the clever style, plot elements, and characters that made the original one so compelling.

I would hazard to say though that it wasn't really the controls that were so bad, but rather it was the camera that really futzed things up. I don't remember the bugs, however.

I should note that I played the PC version. Lots of crashing, though I would venture to say it wasn't a game designed for use on a 64 bit system. And I have to agree, it really was the camera more than anything. Especially in the later levels which were pretty unforgiving.

Hmm, I played it on the PC too. Maybe patches were released since last you played it?

Also, yes, I hated having to keep turning Rasputin in order to face the same target while the camera tried to make me target something else.

I just chock it up to the fact that I'm on x64. Still, not many games could keep me playing after all the crashes I dealt with.
