    Default Blurst.com Games

A developer of website games which use a proprietary browser plug-in. Most of the games are focused on short playing sessions but with features like achievements and multiple ways to score that encourage repeated plays.

Some of the games are rather amusing. My favorite is by far Minotaur in a China Shop. Perhaps it's just my low standard of humor, but it did elicit a few lols irl from me. Other good ones include the tentacle-armed jellyfish game Blush and OFF-ROAD Velociraptor Safari!.

One oddly stupid thing about the site is that there is no comprehensive list of games that I could find; you have to refresh the front page until the game you want to play appears.

Check it; it should be good for a couple hours of amusement at least:

Or you could go directly to the url of the game you want to play.

Kongregate.com has over 1,000 games with achivements/badges, multiple difficulities, etc. It also has a meta-card game where you can use cards you use for completing the challenge of the week.

And Newgrounds recently started an Trophy/Point system for some of their flash games.

Similar concepts, but greater longevity and better execution.

But I still like blurst for killing a few minutes.

Yes, well, everyone knows of Kongregate.

Also, Kongregate is different in that it is a portal for games mostly by 3rd party publishers rather than a host for games that are all programmed in-house.

Also, the few games on Blurst.com are unique and largely based on physics instead of being just a few more "tower defense" clones.

Don't get me wrong-- I love Kongregate. It's just that it's a different sort of site.

On second thought, if I were to tell people about just one website, I guess I should have focused on InstantAction.com instead:

    http://www.instantaction.com/

Beautiful, fun multiplayer games,if somewhat pared back in terms of featuers compared to their non-browser counterparts. However, they are all mostly free to play.
