    Default Parks and Recreation

    Did anybody see this?

It's a mockumentary by the same guys responsible for The Office (USA). Amy Poehler (of SNL fame) stars as Leslie Knope, a government employee in a small town with big hopes and aspirations. The series follows her as she tries to turn a disused construction pit into a community park. The cast also features Aziz Ansari (Human Giant) and Rashida Jones (The Office).

I really like this so far. To be honest, the first episode wasn't very laugh-out-loud funny but it was very watchable and the cast feel enjoyable on screen. Shows like this tend to take time to establish themselves (season one of The Office is terrible compared to each successive season) so I'll certainly give it a chance.

Either way, shows like this are probably the immediate future for comedy. They're cheap and simple to make so networks tend to favour them. In the current climate, factors like that matter.

I thought it was very good. Not exactly laugh out loud funny, but amusing through the entire thing, and very well done.

While I didn't find the first episode to be quite as laugh out loud funny as I thought it would be, there was one part that almost had me in tears I was laughing so hard. I really enjoyed the first episode, I have my DVR set to record it every week.

Edit: Actually the fact that there was one part that had me dying laughing reminds me of the first or second episode of the office the first time I watched it. You know, the one where Jim puts Dwight's stapler in jell-o? That also had me dying laughing.

That bit never made me laugh because the British version did it better, although that might just be because I saw it first.

Which part in Parks and Recreations made you laugh like that?

I thought it was alright, could be good. Better than Kath and Kim

The question is: Which people who brought you the Office?

Their tagline is "From the people who brought you The Office."

Its not the main people so forget it. Is like the new John Cena film. They're saying "from the director of Die Hard 2" Die Hard 2 was ok, but I'm still not going to watch it because its John Cena just like this has some annoying chick from SNL.

Well in the promo material it didn't even look like they were trying to be funny, so I wrote it off, but I will watch an episode to confirm.

It was OK, I mainly watched it because it was based in Indiana. I will continue to watch it to see how it pans out.

So they cast Amy Poehler (not a fan; I find her obnoxious) as the new Michael Scott. Whatever. I thought it was mediocre at best. I love The Office, but that doesn't mean I want to watch carbon copies.

Actually, Amy Poehler is great in this. She's very believable in the role and her expressions are brilliant.

EDIT: Not worth it, I'd have better luck banging my head against a post and hoping to shit gold as a result.

This episode was better... "Are you going to commit to coming to the meeting or are you going to be a bitch?"

Thats the thing I didn't like, was that she was a female Michael Scott. Maybe the show will grow into its own eventually like The Office did after season 1.

EDIT: Although I do like that one guy from Human Giant who was an intern on Scrubs for a while.

I only laughed once, and it was the last line of the show by the scrubs intern, and I don't remember what he said. I laughed harder at the first line of the office.

Amy Poehler was good, and I like the girl who plays the nurse. The show itself was agreeable enough; entertaining, but hardly gripping. And not amusing enough to make me really want to see any more of it. I will continue to watch it because I think the cast is good and because I think it might grow into its own a little, but it needs a whole lot of work.

Yeah it is similar to 30 Rock for me. Not very much in it is actually very funny, but it is interesting to watch, and doesn't often resort to stupid humor.

    Wait hold on.

Are you implying that 30 Rock doesn't resort to stupid humor? Their stupid humor is one of my favorite parts of 30 Rock! "You'll be my manatee, and I'll be your Mento" "Werewolf Barmitzva very scary, boys becoming men, men becoming wolves" "There are too many farts in this fart machine!"

Most of those involve Tracy Jordan, who is supposed to be insane and immature. Although there is a lot of immature humor in 30 Rock, most of it is pretty smart.

There is a big difference between stupid humour which is actually stupid and stupid humour which is actually more intelligent than most intelligent humour, although the two can be easily confused.

I wasn't a huge fan of the second episode, we'll see how tonights is, but unless it picks up a little, I might stop watching.

Werewolf Barmitzvah is an incredibly clever bit of comedy.
