    Default iTunes question

is there any reason for iTunes not to add a song or file to the library?
i downloaded interpol's discography and just just got around to putting it on my ipod, the problem is that itunes adds all the songs of every album, except one or two from each album. so even if i try to add the individual file, iTunes wont do anything. the files fine, ive listened to it with media player and winamp, they work fine, i dont know what might be wrong...does anyone have any ideas?

    iTunes sucks.

Yeah but seriously, sorry I don't have an answer beyond expressing my dislike of iTunes. If I think of something I'll let you know. Did you try adding the music to your ipod via Winamp?

I started using Winamp after using iTunes for five or six years. I just hooked my ipod up, and easily ripped all my music from my iTunes library and ipod library straight to Winamp. Then reloaded that music onto my ipod and was good to go. Winamp actually found something like 2000 songs that my iTunes had not been recognizing for over a year but were still there, that I didn't have on my ipod. So I got all my music back, some of which I'd thought I had lost forever. I can't stress enough how much I love Winamp after that.

Lol, this was pretty much what my response was going to be.

But anyway, if the song is in your library, you can do this. On the left sidebar, drag the library icon down to your iPod's icon. That should sync up your iPod's library with your computer's library.

Wait... how do you use Winamp to manage your music on your iPod?

Also, I listen to podcasts. Winamp can't handle those, right?

Umm, as far as using Winamp with iPods, you just pretty much plug it in and hit sync.

And I don't know if it's a newer feature as I don't listen to podcasts, but yes, Winamp can do podcasts now.

well, itunes wont do anything with the song, if i add the folder, it just omits it, and if i add the individual file, nothing happens, im prolly just gonna have to download the file from somewhere else...which i wanted to avoid

No offense, but it would have taken approximately 30 minutes to just download the songs elsewhere and then add those to iTunes.

lol, another good reasons why itunes sucks.
I was just looking forward to making ringtones for each of my good friends, with a song that suits them.

but no, itunes can only make ringtones out of songs bought from the istore
    i should have guessed.

Depends on what kind of file the phone uses. If it used MP3s, just crop the song to 30 seconds and 64kbps VBR using iTunes, and transfer the file over. If not, go find different ringtone software. iTunes never claimed to be ringtone software, and honestly its a ridiculous expectation to think that Jukebox software would make ringtones, and not to mention its Apple, which means the love exclusivity and $.

I agree, but when I saw the option after right clicking a song....I figured it would be able to follow up the option.
    Silly me.

Yeah, silly you for thinking Apple would do something so cool without connecting it to the music store :P
