Default Ruger Introduces a New Rifle

Built on the AR platform, and piston operated.
Though with it's 30 round capacity I'm betting Bill Ruger wouldn't be happy.

With an MSRP of $1995 they are out of their ever loving minds!!! Bill Ruger set out to design and make well made affordable firearms. I think the "affordable" part of Mr. Rugers vision has been permanently shelved. They really need to drop $1000 off the price.

    Green is the new Red.

Ehh, the price makes sense for the feature list... $2K is fairly reasonable for a gas-piston AR with Troy irons and rails, etc. I don't understand why every single manufacturer on the face of the earth is trying to jump into the AR game though. First Remington, now Ruger? Weird.

For a brand new gas-piston AR, $1995 MSRP is considerably more affordable. A gas piston upper alone hovers around $1,250-$1,500.

Because the AR is a very good gun IMO. Plus they look cool.

Like everyone said, $2k is a descent price for a gas piston AR.

Troy sights and rails cost some money too. I was looking at a set of those sights for my AR and they would be close to $300.

You would think for $2k they would give you a better flash hider and stock though.

I think they would just do better to give their Mini-14s AR mag capability.

It's been a long time since I heard this so I could be remembering someting else, but... are not AR mags compatable as long as you drill the right sized hole in the front of the magazine where it goes into the reciever?

AR mags are AR mags. Ive never heard of having to drill them.

The only hole is on the side where the mag catch grabs it.
