Default Video freezes but sound still continues

This only happens on video files on my computer, I can stream everything just fine. It happens almost everytime I watch either a tv show or a movie I downloaded.

The video stops for 10-15 seconds and the sound still is playing like nothing happened. Then the video fast forwards really quick up to the current point then it plays fine.

    This is my laptop

I thought it could be overheating issue but I quickly ruled that out when I left it off for a few hours then started it up and tried to start a video, about 5 minutes into it, the problem occured.

I have the latest nvidia drivers, I have the k-lite codec pack. I'm not really sure where to go from here.

What are you using to play the files? It could be an issue with your codecs not working properly with whatever player you're using. Give VLC Media Player a try and see if you still have issues.
