    Default Mosquito Bites?

Dear CD, I've been getting mosquito bites this past week, on my leg. Then it started spreading around to my stomach and arms, and now I even see it on the head of my penis. What the hell? I've never had it this bad and I don't even live near any mosquito's. Why is it getting all over my body, am I spreading the oils and causing more bumps to arise? It's driving me nuts because I itch everywhere and I can't stop scratching.

    Go to your doctor.

If you're not near mosquitos and your getting "mosquito bites" on your penis, there's something wrong there buddy. I'm gonna throw it out there that those probably aren't bites.

Make an appointment as soon as possible to try and avoid more spreading on the body and get to your doctor. Only he can tell you what's up. We can't really make a proper e-diagnosis.

Here's my e-diagnosis: You have cardiopulminaryexpialidociousousness to the third power.

But really, go to the doctor. Althogh the idea that you would be able to spread a bite is pretty laughable in its own right.

The welts from mosquito bites are not caused by an immune response to "oils" on the skin's surface. They are caused by an immune response to the anti-coagulants that are injected into the skin via the mosquito's saliva, which essentially remain localized, as far as I'm aware.

There are a number of things which can cause itchy welts or hives to spread over your body. They could be caused by allergic reactions, but they can also be caused by a microbial disease or thyroid problems. It's also possible that you have, say, bed bugs.

The point is that none of us on here are qualified to diagnose you, but I can say that you probably are not getting bitten by mosquitoes if you are getting bitten in places that are covered by multiple layers of clothing.

From doing a quick Google search, the general name for itchy welts on the skin is "Urticaria" if they aren't bug bites.

You should go to a physician.

    anyone else thinking poison oak/ivy???

just saying it does have oils that can be spread over your body but still even with that it should have washed off the skin during bathing and should have eliminated the spread

Thats what I thought at first but that still wouldn't explain how he got it on his stomach or especially his penis. I doubt the OP is running around the woods unclothed and fancy free.

You can spread poison ivy reactions by scratching the infected area and then touching another part of your body. This is one of the main reasons you aren't supposed to scratch.

Bed bugs? If you have an infestation, they might be biting you while you sleep.
