    Default Futurama is back!

Comedy Central just ordered 13 new episodes and futurama went right into production. I for one am obviously overjoyed to hear this, I have been hoping and waiting years for new futurama episodes. ITT discuss how happy you are that this show is coming back.

That sucks. I thought the last stuff they did was the perfect way to end it. Now it's just going to fizzle out till it's totally not funny any more and everyone is bored (see: The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead, Daria..)

They have so much room for more though, Matt groening was talking about how they still have ideas for shows from back in 99 and have been thinking of more ever since. I definitely do not want to see them fizzle out like family guy but I think they still have plenty more before they reach that level.

I don't know that Futurama could sizzle out like those other shows. It's just so much different that unless they try to change it drastically, or pull a family guy and run the same three jokes over and over, it should stay funny for years to come.

Yea futurama is different, family guy is too much of the same and they are only on their 6th season now. Futurama already put out 5 seasons of fantastic episodes with no signs of stale repetitive jokes. The movies were great too and like I said in the other thread matt groening was talking about the abundance of ideas they have for the show. I think futurama could air for years to come while still making hilarious shows. Futurama is definitely my favorite animated show, even over southpark(in their prime) because of the style of humor in the show. There are so many subtle jokes that are easy to miss but hilarious. It makes for good replay value in episodes, I still watch old episodes of futurama all the time because I either catch something I forgot about that made me laugh or because I appreciate the thought put into the jokes. I also like how consistent futurama is and how everything ties together, it maintains the same style as similar shows while also incorporating past events or references from earlier episodes more often. There is also a lot of foreshadowing and such in earlier episodes that isn't referenced at all until several seasons later. Plus they have a lot of nerdy humor in the episodes that I don't see in many other shows but that is pretty hilarious.

I love watching old Futurama episodes for that reason. It seems like I always see something that I missed before. I'm not saying that it couldn't be ruined but there would almost have to be a special effort made to mess the show up.

I generally agree, I just really like proper endings to shows like that and I don't think it'll get one if it carries on.

I don't think it's going to be nearly as good as it was before, but time shall tell.

I only hope it's close to that good. I have a feeling it's going to be good but that's just because I want it to be. I mean the movies were pretty damn good overall, they were definitely all worth watching. I mean Bender's Big Score was really good and Beast with a Billion Backs has grown on me but was definitely the weakest movie of the series. Benders Game was great but doesn't have as much replay value for me as the Benders Big Score or Into the Wild Green Yonder. Into the Wild Green Yonder was fucking awesome and it had such a good ending that if new episodes weren't ordered and futurama was canceled, I would have been happy with the ending. I dunno maybe I'm just being too optimistic but I think they are going to throw some of the best they got in this season just to make sure Comedy Central will continue to order new episodes. I mean how could they spend so much time trying to get futurama back on the air and then let it go to shit and lose the possibility of more seasons.

I just want to jump in and say that Daria didn't fizzle, but ended when it should have.

I just googled it and you're probably right, only I never saw 'Is it College Yet?'. Don't think it got shown over here.

I saw the first two films but have not seen the last two to see how they ended the series. However, I'm looking forward to the return of Futurama. I never understood why it was canceled in the first place because of its excellency.

I find it amusing that you all would like to argue which of the animated series created predominantly by the same bloke you prefer. They are all incredibly similar and at the end of the day another season is just a few hours more tripe to slap in front of your stoned eyes.

    P.S I am ecstatic.

This makes me sad. I hope "interviewing new actors" is a power move by the studio to get the actors to quit being greedy dicks.

that is a terribly low budget for an animated series.

But it's understandable, considering it's on comedy central.

This is going to be weird. Fox doesn't mind putting out crap but won't pay talented voice actors the money they deserve.

Billy West and John DiMaggio are two of the best VAs in the business. I mean, top of the game stuff.

It's not just Fry, it's Farnsworth, Cubert, Zoidberg, Nixon, Zap Branagan - he voices all of them.

You know the scene in The Office, Season 3, when Michael is in the Bahamas, and Jim is running the meeting? Dwight pulls out a tape recorder so he can do a transcript, and everyone says that Dwight is doing stupid shit, like taking his clothes off, so Dwight will have to type it in the transcript? Everyone is having a good time, until Andy says that he is cutting Phyllis in half with a chainsaw, which is something so over the top that it just completely kills the mood and ruins the joke?

Congrats, DaiTengu. You are now Andy Bernard.

All of the Futurama movies have been let-downs. Hate to break it to you. But who knows, maybe now that the series is back on a cable only network with a smaller budget, it'll be hilarious again!

Sorry Mal, but the first Futurama movie was pretty brilliant in a lot of ways. The next two were just bland and dire and the last one was merely alright. Nothing fantastic but a nice way to end it which is what I wish they'd have done!!!$E^%£^%FFS
