    Default Spacetrace

SpaceTrace is a completely free real-time space strategy simulation. the aim of the game is to win space battles by combining different ship-types into successful fleets. Each player is the ruler of a planet that can build fleets of spaceships.
Players can establish colonies and battle for the three Score Planets in the galaxy.

The community is for small for the game at the moment (less than 150 players) and so now is pretty much the best time to establish an alliance and dominate the galaxy.
Although confusing at first (as there are many diffferent technologies and ships) the game is strategically sound and genuinely fun.

Anyone interested in starting an alliance or even just joining give me a pm and I'll show you the ropes!

I'm unfamiliar with that game, but as far as I know, there are hundreds of games similar to this.
The only difference I can think of when it comes to this one is that manpower is set and cannot be increased meaning that the game doesn't run on a whoever has the biggest fleet wins basis but rather on a whoever has the best tactical set up wins.
It's more like a game of chess I guess.

planetarion was a browser based game i used to play in school. it was turn done by ticks, every hour you'd get money based on number of asteroids you owned, researches could take days, and again like you say about this game, very tactical, and not done on a biggest fleet wins basis.

you got to know your galaxy and had galaxy wars, cluster wars even...
    very strategic.

Sounds similar alright except this is real time not turn based and manpower is freed up again as your ships are destroyed.
