Default IDE drives with pics on a SATA computer

I have a couple old drives that have pics and other junk I didn't want to lose but my PC doesn't have an IDE connector. I can only find 2 solutions. There is an enclosure for around 60 bucks that will let me put both drives and use firewire. Second solution is using a hardware bridge that connects to the drive and makes it go down to sata cable size. These cost 20 bucks plus another 5 for the cable. So I'll be out around 50 bucks and having to figure a way to mount them in my box.

Any other solutions? Which is best?

How is 20 plus 5 equal to 50?

You can get a usb to ide/sata adapter for like $20. It's not a permanent solution, but it will allow you to copy the files off the old drives.

Or, just get a cheap ($20-$30) external enclosure or ide pci card.

ide pci card is the easiest way, and probably the cheapest. if you have a used computer store near you, you can probably get one for $5

If it were up to me, I would just get an enclosure. Taking a case apart and messing with hard drives using little ebay adapters are a thing of the past.
