    Default Whipping myself back into shape

    Dear PS, I've been gaining weight and I need tips on how to flatten my stomach and get my chest muscular. I'll be planning to go on a healthy diet but the tips I'm looking for are what exactly to do at the gym, the exercises or machines to use etc. And any tips on the healthy diet will work too, I just got into college and I ate bad, but now I'm planning to start eating fruits and salads for most of my meals.

    try doing exercises that focus on your chest and/or stomach!!

    although, you should work your entirely body as evenly as possible in addition to a great diet if you're truly looking to get in good shape. eating nothing but fruit and salad is not an intelligent way to eat, just so you're aware.

    Targeting your chest or your stomach only isn't going to get you very far.

    If you want to see your abs for example, but have a layer of fat over them, you could do a million crunches a day and still not see them.

    You need to do cardio exercises to burn off the fat. That would include running, swimming, biking, rowing, etc. All things that you can do at a gym. I usually do 20-30 minutes of cardio to warm up and then do some weight lifting, which would be what I would recommend for you as well. For chest exercises, you can do bench presses or push ups to start.

    Ask a trainer at the gym, they should be able to tell you without setting up an appointment.

    Google "beginner workouts" look for 6-9 lifting exercises four (or if you're bold with your weekend plans, five) days per week, and do good cardio.

    Personally, I always do 100 incline crunches and added increasing weight, but that's not because I think it's going to give me ripped abs, but rather because I want to be able to take a punch in the gut from Chuck Liddell and laugh.

    sorry bro, chest and stomach are among the last places you'll lose fat from so you'll either have to accept that as who you are or get ready for a long regimine of proper diet and exercise

    cut out all refined sugar, tropical oils, and processed oils from your diet. cut out all fatty meats (beef etc.) eat lean protein, whole grains, vegetables, and fruit. eat smaller portions.

    almost never eat out.

    haha it's gonna be hard to eat healthy since I'm dorming and I got buffet -_-. But at least it's unlimited entry so I can make 5 small trips instead of 3 big trips. Thanks for all the tips and I will get started on these.

    Well, even though you're in a dorm and eating out of the cafeteria, it doesn't mean you can't make healthier choices in what you eat in the dinner. You also can cook some food in your dorm with a microwave, rice cooker, or hot water heater (or even hot plate, if you're willing to go all-out and it's allowed). A little creativity will help you too.

    Unfortunately, if does mean you might have to make some more compromises...

    OP here. I'm 5'9" and 185..male....used to be 170 just a few months ago -sigh-

    I know that size isn't all too bad but it's just a bit overweight. That's hardly my concern though, just my man boobs, my stomach has been getting bigger too. I remember when I used to be able to suck in my stomach and look like an anorexic guy..-sigh-

    I'll try to keep up with my dieting and working out. It's just a slow process that will become a habit soon enough. So far I've just been doing cardio but I plan to move over to the weights again soon.

    When I'm too lazy to go to the gym I warm up with 100 jumping jacks and then do push-ups and sit-ups

    Losing weight will help him with women if it builds his confidence.

    And even if it doesn't build his confidence, he will still do better with women than if he is fat.

    Although losing weight and being that fit guy isn't the only way to be good with women.

    are you trying to convince me or yourself? the vast majority of men who want to lose weight are terrible with women in the first place--do yourself a favor and work on your personality before your body~

    i said it in another thread and i'll repeat it here: a man's weight is unimportant unless he has a job/hobby/etc that's physically demanding. losing xx amount of weight will not magically make women attracted to you. you will not become magically confident enough to pull bitches out of thin air. any guy who isn't a complete failure with women knows your body type is irrelevant 99% of the time

    edit: look bro (@ thread starter) im not trying to be a dick, but i'm telling you in all seriousness that a lifestyle change is more important for you atm than losing weight, as it usually is. you will become healthy all-around if you change the way you live.
