Default Starting to build an AR-15

So in my absence, I have been working part-time for my campus security. Basically I just make sure people don't park where they shouldn't and lock/unlock stuff, but its earned me quite a bit of disposable income. Now I am thinking, what better to do then build an AR-15 to fit my needs. Right now all I am thinking about is getting a lower shipped to a FFL to just get it out of the way, and then buy the rest of the parts as I see fit. I was thinking of getting a Stag lower, because I read that they are good quality and inexpensive. They are also the only company I have seen that provide a Lower Receiver with the trigger and grip already installed, but without a stock. I feel this is best because I dont feel like messing with the trigger and such. Another plus is that its got such an awesome deer logo, ha.

Stag is good to go. If you're set on buying an already complete lower, Spikes Tactical has a complete lower including a stock and buffer tube assembly for just $50 more. http://www.spikestactical.com/z/inde...products_id=86

Their lowers alone are only $90 and LPK's are $65. If you do decide that you want to assemble it yourself (very easy, and fun if you're a tinkerer) that right there will save you close to $50 and get you the same thing the Stag provide.

I have a stag and it's great. But I would suggest buying a complete upper for your first AR. Just the tools to assemble the upper can run you about $100. I'm on my iPhone right now, so I'm not going hunt down links. But go to bravo companys website and look at their complete uppers. There is a Daniel defence one for $499 that they will have in stock shortly. It's the best deal on a high quality upper I've seen in over a year.

What are the tools? Are they special tools? I have a whole garage full of tools at my disposal.

Yes. You'll need an AR-15 barrel wrench (or armorers combo wrench) and a action/vice block. Both will run you around $40 a piece for quality. If you go with a free float tube, chances are you'll probably need a proprietary wrench for that as well.

The armorers wrench usually has a standard freefloat wrench on it.

    Heres what you need.

    action block
    armorers wrench
    headspace gauge

I would suggest just buying a complete upper and if you want to build, build the lower. All you need are some punches for that.

No worries, I get yelled at all the time because I don't even feel like wearing the proper uniform. I just wear a shirt and tie underneath the winter jacket with patches they provide. Jeans mostly, sometimes dress pants. I leave the flashlights at base and keep my keys and radio hidden in my pockets. Screw that mall ninja shit. I had a small brush with it my freshmen year of college. Yeah...

It is made of 100% polymer. It is also made of 100$ titanium for strength.
