Default Almost done with this one...

    Almost

I got my flaming pig the other day, and put it on. I love the look. I thought I would be able to put the pig on, and then slide the rails over it, but towards the middle of the rails, there isnt enough clearance. So I put another crush washer on it, got it ALMOST clocked right, took it off, put the rails on, hand tightened the pig, then used a strap wrench to get it the rest of the way.

All I have now are some crappy pics from my iPhone, but Ill try and get you guys some better ones tomorrow.

    Heres all the specs.

RRA Pistol buffer tube w/ standard buffer and spring
    Magpul ASAP plate
Black Rain Ordnance upper and lower
    Stag lower parts kit
    Magpul B.A.D.
    Magpul MIAD grip
Troy folding battlesights. HK style front
    Troy TRX 11 inch rails
Sabre Defence 10.5 in bbl with 1/7 twist.
    Noveske KX3

Im still saving for the EOTech, and once I get my NFA stamp, the Magpul ACS stock, and AFG go on. I also had a Fenix TA21 light on it, but I let someone borrow it last time we went to the woods, and they came back with an empty 5th of Jack Daniels, and no flashlight.

So what do you guys think so far?

EDIT: And I found out something cool about the KX3 from reading the manual. It has a wire cutter built in. You put the wire in the two notches on the end, and shoot. lol

I might have to find some barb wire and test it out. With safety glasses of course.

Nice. How do you like the AFG and the index clips? I cant wait till my AFG comes in.

And you should have gotten the HK style front sight. So much easier to get fast and good sight picture IMO.

And I ordered a sling too. This one.

The AFG is great, but definitely not for everyone. I got mine free, Magpul was giving 30 away for testing and I managed to get in on it. I'd only recommend for rifles with rails longer than carbine length. The index clips are absolutely ingenious, but a total pain in the dick if you ever have to take them off to add something.

As for the Troy sights, I wanted the HK style but I couldn't beat AIM's deal (both front and rear for $189) so I can't complain. Besides, I'm used to the flared front sight style anyways.

You use the LaRue Dillo to take the index clips off. Makes it really easy from what Ive seen.

And that is a pretty good deal on the Troys, I paid $120 each for mine.

I know Ill like the AFG, I already hold my gun like that on the VFG.

Yeah, its not the actual removing them thats difficult, its just the fact that they're each individual pieces. You can't just yank the whole thing off like ladders or panels. It's a blessing and a curse in itself.

Actually it's not a stock. This AR is legally a pistol right now. So I can't put a stock on it till I get my NFA stamp.

Oh I see now. I thought it might be some sort of collapsible rig that folded down into a stock when it was being used.

Nope. For now thats how it has to be to stay legal. Once I go through all my paperwork to get it registered, Ill be able to put a stock on it though.

So they still have to have that long spring thing in those stocks? I used to wonder how that worked with the fancy stocks.

Yea, you pretty much to have that on there for the buffer and buffer spring. So folding stocks are out. Para USA just came out with an AR that doesnt need the tube though. Havent seen one yet though.

I've been juggling that, the SOPMOD, or even a Sully for my build. The only reason I'm considering a Sully is because with my MOE I run it fully collapsed because it provides the best reach and stability with the AFG at the far end of the rail, and a Sully stock is only .5" longer than a fully collapsed MOE. The only thing keeping me from 100% landing on the Sully is the fact that I'd lose my ASAP, although I have been thinking about switching to a 2-point for this rifle anyways. It's just slightly too much for my single point.

IMO, the SOPMOD is overrated. Never handled one, but you can get the same functionality + more for alot less. Like the ACS example.

As far as the Sully, meh. Sure it might be the perfect length, but what about when you put on more clothes for cold weather, or less for hot weather?

Well like I said, I run it fully collapsed as it is and thats shooting with just a t shirt on. So I'd never really need a longer stock.

Yea, but collapsible is so much tacticooler. lol

My choices of a stock for that rifle would be an ACS, CTR, E-MOD, standard M4 stock, or maybe even a UBR.

Are they still gas operated? I thought I saw where they don't have the gas tube anymore.

Piston variants have become pretty popular lately. There will always be DI AR's though.

Yea, piston ARs are all over the place these days. Any company who comes out with a new AR makes it a gas piston, usually using a system that is already used, and they call it new.

My next AR will be a Addax Zombie Killer GPU.

Went and shot about 250 rounds through it a few days ago. As soon as we got there, I dumped 80 rounds through it to get it good and hot. Later in the day it started messing up. Chambering the next round, but not cocking the hammer, bolt not closing all the way, shit like that. Ran perfect with Pmags though. But most of the mags that messed up, work fine in my other AR, and I also doubt I would have like 4 brand new mags that are bad.

I think I have too high of a cyclic rate which is causing some bolt bounce, which will usually cause the next round to be chambered, but not cock the hammer. So I was talking to Chris @ Addax tactical, and he was saying aheavier buffer should fix it. He told me he had a Spikes ST-SST buffer sitting around the shop from some testing, and I could have it. I knew there was a reason I bought from those guys. If you dont use Addax, I suggest you do. They are great people.

Apart from the little problems, I love it. Shoots awesome, not nearly as much recoil as you would expect from a short bbl like this. And the KX3 is sweet. Didnt get to shoot it at night though. I think the KX3 might actually be the cause of the problem. It makes for higher pressures in the gas system. But the heavier buffer should fix it.
