    No way, first post. Again.

Anyway, Dead Space is definitely one of those games that looks to be the epitome of the horror genre, or at least until a future games topples it. Although this game seems to be bordering on fright moments moreso than genuine horror, it looks as if EA will handle it quite nicely, as well as make itself a spot amongst the top horror games of all time.

Now buying it on the other hand.... let me just say that unemployment isn't very friendly to the standard gamer.

Forgot to add... I think that the dismemberment will add a nice strategy layer to the game, as well as increase urgency and survival tactics.

Dead Space looks beautiful. I like the aspect that fire arms are not abundant and that it is all about your mining tools. This game is also very gruesome; apparently has already been banned in countries already (I'll try and find the article). I can't wait. Is there any word about a multiplayer?

So apparently this week is "Preview Dead Space Week" at the major game sites.

We've followed the title for a while now, tracking the details of the doomed vessel and Isaac Clarke's struggle for survival, but we only recently had a chance to check out a preview build of the game, which provided us with a taste of what gamers will experience in early October.

Man if IGN gave it a good score it must be awesome. I'm so excited. I've been looking forward to this game for sometime now. Sounds like it delivered.

    Several more reviews

    Gamepro 5/5
    Game Cinema HD 9.5/10
    Game Center Online A+
    1UP B+

I never thought it would get this high of scores, but maybe I'm just bias.

I played it for 7 months on a 12" standard TV with mono sound. It sucked but its still playable. We had a few HDTVs in our area and one big 30" or so that it just looked super sexy on.

    More reviews coming in.
Xbox 360 Fanboy - No score (long positive review)
    Game Zone - 8.5/10
    Eurogamer - 7/10
    UGO - A/A+

    Cheat Code Central - 4.7/5

In the beginning there were really bad text problems on standard TVs, but we got them sorted out.

You would think that a mega corporation could afford things for their testers... and you wonder why so much of what EA puts out is crap.

Blargh. It's not getting in until tomorrow. I wish the devs would ship a day early so that the release date IS the release date.

Well thats the thing, every store that is going to be selling it already has it in stock... Thats the way its been with every game thats been pushed back for release a few days. Why it happens, I don't know. We've had Dead Space at work for almost a week now, just chillin' in the back room.

If it has had this many previews from this many major gaming sites, there is a huge chance that it's over-hyped.

I'm not reading the reviews, just perusing the scores. There's only 1 game that I really followed from conception to execution...

    Dark Sector...

And that really killed it for me. Sure, the game looked pretty but it was so very mediocre. They didn't cash in promises. I'm going in to Dead Space with no expectations.

Played it for an hour so far.

Pretty intense. Reminds me of RE4... in space. Which is what I was expecting. So far, so good.

My friends and I played about 6 chapters. It is truly fun; however, it isn't as scary as I expected, but maybe that is just my opinion.

I bought this today and I've played the first chapter and that's all so far. But I'm loving it, and running it on max settings looks wonderful.

I just played it at my buddy's dorm, fucking scary. A lot of jump out and surprise you moments but the atmosphere itself is nerve racking. I'm gonna have to pick it up.

I haven't progressed very far in this game as I get scared as fuck very easily in this game. My heart starts to race and I jump everytime I hear something near me. I can't play this alone, I only play it when my brother is next to me haha

    Finished.

On round 2, now. I have to do a round 3, though, because I fucked up my first run for trophies. Doing the Plasma Cutter ONLY trophy now, then going for the 30 kills with each gun.

Then, finally, Impossible Mode. Which I hear really isn't that impossible.

For people that found normal to be hard, impossible will be very difficult. For those that thought hard was just right, impossible should be slightly tougher but not too bad. For those that thought hard was easy, well, there is no pleasing those people.

I'm doing it on normal and it seems easy to me but I mean I'm only on chapter 4.

Honestly, the game should be played on hard the first time. When you have plenty of ammo and its easy to kill the enemy it makes it more of a shooter and less survival horror.

Yeah. I played on Normal and only really died in the insta-kill spots - mainly the meteor you have to attach that bomb to because I didn't realize you could go outside, and it took me until the last chapter to figure out that those wall things can 1hk you from up close no matter your health. And I was running low on ammo when the regenerating bastard showed up in the med bay, so that kind of tripped me up. Other than that, not bad.

Yeah, I am thinking its not that scary/hard for a horror game.
The difficulty settings should have been harder.
