Default Anyone else excited for the ACR?

Ive been watching this gun for a while now. And they have been announced to be released on March 1st.

Pricing hasnt been released yet, but Ive been hearing anywhere between like $1200 for the basic all the way up to $2500 for the enhanced one. So who knows. I know MAGPUL signed the contract when they sold the design to Remington/Bushmaster they has something about the price being around the low end of what I said. Hopefully they didnt screw that up.

I plan on getting the basic one in black. Id like to see what kind of aftermarket they will have for them. And if they dont have one, then Ill just get the Enhanced folding stock and rails.

Heres the latest info on them.

Been keeping track of it for a while. As far as I know, Remington is going to be making the ACR for military customers (good luck to them with that) while Bushmaster will be focusing on civilian sales.

Unfortunately, the pricing is as follows:
Suggested retail price: Basic $2,685 and Enhanced $3,061.
    No lie.

I have heard that Magpul wants to get the price down, but cannot confirm this. Seems to me that at over 2.5 grand, and three grand for the enhanced version, their only customers will be real fanboys. The rest of us will probably wait until the price comes down.

It also seems that the ability to go to 7.62 x 39mm and use AK mags may have been ditched for the launch rifle/accessories; nothing in the press release mentions anything about that caliber. And that was a pretty significant selling point; I recall that Future Weapons (rightly) made a pretty big deal about that ability.

That is the MSRP though, so hopefull it really will get down to about $1500 once sales calm down. Unless its stays hard to find like the SCAR. I will not be getting one for that price though. And IIRC, Bushmaster will MAKE them all, but Remington will MARKET them to Military, and Bushmaster, to civvies.

Ok so I just noticed that the barrel is a 1:9 twist chrome moly. Which is a crappy barrel. Sure its cold hammer forged, but 1:9 twist is for plinkers, and non chrome lined is just retarded. Thats like a $150 barrel. So let me get this straight. Crappy barrel, polymer lower, polymer handguards, aluminum upper, standard stock, and standard AR-15 FCG = $2600? Fuck that. That thing cant cost anymore than $800 to make.

Ill be spending my tax return on an AK, and Glock 27, and and new laptop instead of that overpriced thing. Ill just wait till they come out with one that has a descent barrel and the price is where its supposed to be. Hopefully they have the .308 version available by then.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the Massoud, TBH.

The Massoud is still in the developmental phase, as far as I know.

The Massoud is the 7.62/.308 version of the ACR.

Frankly I'm extremely disappointed. This rifle was originally marketed as the peoples rifle, available for the common man. I don't know about you, but I don't know of many 'common men' who can afford or are willing to drop $2700 on a plastic 5.56 rifle with a 1/9 bbl and no railed fore-end. Magpul really dropped the ball on this one... I don't think they kept a close enough eye on the development as they should have.

This rifle used to be on my 'will have' list, but not so much any more. I'd much rather drop the cash on a LaRue OBR and wait a year to get it, or wait till the OBR Lite comes out. Or hell, even buy a SCAR.

I think the high price has more to do with Remington/Bushmaster trying to make big bucks.

They are suppose dto be releasing them in huge numbers. Not a few thousand like the SCAR. So who knows. Maybe they are just trying to give dealers room to be competitive.

Almost $400 for the rails foreend, folding stock, and a different brake.

Is this gun actually well known and amazing? I only know of it because of MW2 and it's godly on that. My favourite gun by a mile. The only one I use apart from when I am sniping.

Everyone in the gun community was waiting for this gun. It was designed by Magpul and then sold to Cerbrus (Who oens Remington and Bushmaster). The terms were that it had to be out in a certain time (like 2 years ago) and it had to be affordable. They have flushed that down the toilet. It was supposed to destroy the SCAR on the market. But at that price, and with a shitty barrel, they are setting it up for failure.

So yes, if you are a gun guy, mainly military style guns, you know about this gun, and want one.

To be fair, I think that the ACR will be a good rifle, a few years down the line. You know, when prices aren't as ridiculous, and they've actually responded to the desires of their customers.

I can't for the life of me figure out why Magpul let Cerebrus get involved. Hopefully, they won't repeat this mistake.
