    Default My new Glock

I recently picked up a Glock 19, and finally have a good pic of it for you guys.
    Glock

I picked up some Winchester Bonded Ranger 147gr 9mm because I heard they were really good bullets. The bonding process makes the copper jacket and lead core stick together, so when it mushrooms, it retains its weight, so it can penetrate more. And penetration is power. Well I shot a few in the dirt and this is the one I found. It looks to retained nearly 100% of its original weight. Im going to weigh it when I can get a scale that will weight it. I suggest every one get some bonded ammo for their SD guns.
    Bullets

It penetrated a good 5 inches in semi wet dirt/clay, so I imagine it will penetrate a person pretty good.

LOL, you don't need bonded bullets if you carry all copper bullets

Copper also doesn't deform as easily. The bonded bullets have the lead core to mushroom, and the copper jacket to hold it together.

Homogeneous copper bullets tend to be designed for hunting, where their slower deformation allows deeper penetration into big animals. There are a few homogeneous copper SD/LE bullets on the market (TAC-XP from Barnes, etc.) but most high-quality self defense ammo still uses lead-cored bullets because they're denser.

Sized down to avoid thread de-rail.You're right Anony, but, as syme referenced, Barnes heat treats their copper bullets. I don't use them so much for the expansion, as it's already .451 inches across. I do use them because they are stinking laser accurate in my gun, and have a different "feel" to the recoil than the Hornady I was using before.

Also, how does the gun fit your hand?

I've been thinking about getting a pocket pistol to back up the Kimber, and wondered if something like that would be coat-pocketable.

Glock 19 is probably a stretch for a coat pocket unless you have really big pockets, it's only a half inch shorter in the barrel and a fraction of an inch shorter in the grip than a 17. If you want a Glock for jacket pocket carry, go for one of the subcompacts.

It feels good in the hands. But It is a little too big for a backup gun. Look at the sub compact glocks. maybe the G36SF.
