    Default Lets talk lights...

So Ive been getting a few lights lately. At first it was some just to put on my AR-15s, but then I started getting them just to have around the house, in the car, and just carry.

    Heres what I have.

    Fenix TA21
    http://www.fenixlight.com/viewnproduct.asp?id=45

This one is probably my favorite. Its extremely bright, and has all kinds of different modes. I have used it in the woods a bunch of times. Its been dropped in the mud, used in the rain, dropped on concrete, and its been on one of my ARs for about 300 rounds. So it can take some abuse. I actually had two of these, but one of my friends went off into the woods with a half gallon of Jack and the light, and came back with just a half empty handle of Jack. Id be willing to bet if we ever find it out there, it will still work though.

    Streamlight Super Tac

This one isnt rated as bright as the Fenix, but it seems like it is. The beam is more focused, and it will light up someone a good 250-300 yards away easily. I had this one on my other AR, but lately its been used as a handheld light when we are in the woods. It also has a really good battery life. It will give you bright, usable light for a good 3.5 hours.

    Surefire G2
    http://www.surefire.com/G2-Nitrolon

This one, I dont really use. Its the only non-LED light I have, and it eats batteries like crazy. Plus its not nearly as bright as the others. It was my first good light that I bought, and it was pretty bright when I got it, but I guess now that Im used to the other ones, this one just kinda doesnt measure up. I plan on getting an LED bulb for it though. One of these will take it from 60 lumens with a 1 hours run time to 220 lumens with a 2.5 hour run time.

    Ultrafire A30B

Its a cheap light, but its still a pretty damn good light. It says its 220 lumens, but its more like 80. But still, for its size, its pretty damn bright, and it can go in your pocket and you wont have to worry about it.

I have some other stuff, but its just some regular stuff. Just a 4D Maglite, and Energizer headlamp, and other random LED lights.

I've had a Cree LED in my G 2 for a few years now.

Works great, doesn't break, makes batteries last fucklong.

Also, it's more like 130 lumens after upgrading to Cree LED , not 220 like the one you wanted. (doubt it's that much off of 2 123s anyway

What kind of CREE? And as long as its 100+ lumens Im fine. Anything is better than the 60 lumen light that eats batteries. I dont even use it because it will go through 4-6 batteries every outing. I mean I use the cheap batteries, but still.

I got 48 CR123s for $35 shipped the other day.

I can't remember the model for the life of me.

My brother has one of the little black surefires with the pointy bezel, and mine's just as bright as his, with a whiter, hotter spot

Dag, that's not a bad price.
Yeah, I bought about 40 batteries in 2008, and I've got about 2 left, with the current ones still going strong.

Most of my good lights are Sure-Fire, I have the following:

    G2 Nitrolon

    M2 Centurion

    Z2 CombatLight

And a number of M951 WeaponLights, I haven't rounded them all up to count yet, and gave a couple away to family and friends.

As for batteries, I still have quite a few CR123s hoarded from various field exercises, don't know how many but they pop up everywhere, in all of my LCEs and packs.

Besides the Sure-Fire lights I have a an ASP, an Inova or two and an Energizer Hard Case Tactical. The Hard Case is okay for military applications, but the LED went out. I'm contacting Energizer now for warranty info.
