    Star Wars, hands down.

    Although Star Trek isn't bad.

If you want to look at the messages and ethos behind them and even character development etc. then Star Trek is technically better.

Star Wars will always be more entertaining though.

Star trek was good until they milked PC minis off of it. Star Wars was good until they milked the prequils out of it and felt the need to fill it full of African-Americans.

We all know that there is no such thing as a Black alien.

I have never seen a full episode of Star Trek ever. Do I still get to vote or is my nerd status not high enough for clearance?

Well, objectively, Star Trek is about accepting people for who they are and judging them by how they act and not judging them based on prejudices to do with race or gender etc. It's about unity and peace. The characters were extremely complex and developed well over time etc.

**the below summary does not take into account the prequels or the 'extended universe' (books, comics etc.) as they are basically there to retcon what doesn't make sense. Plus they're all shit**
Star Wars is essentially a product of the Reagan era. Blonde haired hero saves the world from something 'dark'. Conversely, the original story is incredibly insubstantial and inconsistent. It is literally "we don't like this fascist empire so we're rebelling" without any real mention of how or even why. The rebellion are essentially anarchists (as far as we can judge) and mercenaries. Darth Vader isn't even portrayed as obtrusively evil. He simply desires order, which is what the empire does bring (albeit in a fairly brutal fasion). I know the destroying the planet part is quite evil but is essentially a terrorist state (just parallel Alderaan with Iraq).

Look, there's plenty more I could write about this but I don't want to turn a star trek vs star wars thread into something out of AI.

And I'm not in any way a trekkie. I've always loved Star Wars (the first 3) and never been into star trek at all. I'm just looking at this rationally and objectively and critically. But I know this is a very divisive subject which people will take far too serious (pot/kettle=black) so I apologise for any 'offence' I may have caused.

Star Wars of course, though I'm not really a huge fan of either.

I gotta vote for Star Trek, just because Picard is awesome. He could talk his way out of nearly anything.

star trek was more "important" culturally speaking but star wars is far better artistically and in terms of entertainment factor
