    Default Fallout: New Vegas

Well I'm surprised no one has made this yet, so I will

Who else has been playing this non stop since it came out? I had it preloaded so on the hour it came out I was straight on it.
And I couldn't get off it, this game is fucking awesome!
I love the quests in this game, and the gambling is great. I won 32k on the slot machines!
Its also huuuge, I thought I was near the end of the game but turns out I'm not really and there are still loads of quests and shit to do.

    What do you guys think?

My mom is buying it for my son for Christmas. I can't wait. I know we will both like it. Both like Fallout 3.

I finished my first play-through of the game as a mostly positive karmic character

    Faction chosen

I felt the ending was anti-climactic to a degree, though not to the same degree as in Fallout 3. As much as I was glued to this game, I think I'll put it down for a short while until I go through my negative karmic play-through, that is if I can overcome my ineluctable impulse to always be the good guy in every RPG I play.

ok i've started my hardcore playthrough
this isn't nearly as mindless, and survival definitely comes far more in handy...
also apparently sodas and alcohol actually make you more dehydrated, but cans of pork 'n beans hydrate you.

also, i primarily fight unarmed, and i'll keep a couple energy weapons for ranged attacks. the guns and ammo i'll mostly sell, given that in hardcore mode the ammo has weight.

This really is intolerable. Two weeks after release on an ancient engine and they can't fix their game crashing problems? I've also had NPC character models start noclipping other objects, killcams going awry (waaaay worse than Fallout 3s occasional goofiness), and animations that repeat a couple jittery frames over and over through the conversation.

I was skeptical that this was going to be Babby's First Fallout v3.1 and so far I'm ok with the story elements and setting, but all of these little issues are adding up to feeling like I played 60 bucks for a fucking beta. The game has already been patched, so the fact that the game won't fucking run reliably on a console is just unacceptable.

If they wanted to make advances, they'd have cut the load times when entering buildings/changing environments, not made them a liability.

i must say... i'm not experiencing any of the issues you are. the only thing is that the load times are a little annoying, but they aren't really so long as to be very irritating. otherwise, the game plays well with only 1 crash out of a tremendous number of hours of play time.

Absolutely engrossed in this game. I hate the crashes and the bugs and I think the recent patch only fixed most of the exploits and corpses(except for the ash piles! so becareful energy weapon users) rather than the bugs. Also, I just spent a ridiculous amount of time on my first playthrough to have Boone and ED-E fucking disappear after I left Lucky 38 casino. After a little tooling around on the internet, this is a common problem and sometimes going to Vault 22 and using the elevator will magically respawn them back at your side. So now I have to go to Vault 22 to continue my game! ARGH!

Yeah there are a few bugs.
I can't get the ion cannon gun to fire either and I have done the quest for it.

Its still a fantastic game though and I'm loving it.

Again I don't really understand why you're playing it on hardcore mode if you're doing that, why not just play on easy.

hardcore mode is so incredibly easy as it is. i get so much food from the environment, and there's always toilet conveniently located to drink out of. i hardly used rad-x, rad-away, and stimpaks in the normal mode, and in hardcore mode i use the two former a little more frequently and stimpaks hardly at all since they heal so little compared to food.

well, at least a high survival skill makes it easy, but i think it'd be easy anyway.

I heard the console version has a few bugs. I fucking love this game though, about 80 hours in and its still kicking.

Also, bethesda didn't develop the game, they just published it. If you want to blame someone, blame Obsidian Entertainment.

Playing a melee/unarmed build and oh god how much fun it is to uppercut a nightkin master's head, and with Rex knocking them down I feel way too powerful.

If you consider combat a viable option in this game, it is too easy. If you max your speech skill, it is too easy. If you max your lockpick skill, it is pretty easy. Hardcore mode is melee broken, normal mode is melee and guns broken. Difficulty still doesn't scale.

I stand by my original opinion... it's a half-finished game that's entertaining enough but lacks any substance. The only way to find a challenge in the game is to never steal (since even for good characters, karma isn't a deterrent), never put points into any combat skill, never use companions, and never use sneak attacks. Even then, you face only a minor inconvenience.

Like honestly, if you aren't unkillable around level 10, you've never played Fallout before or you breathe exclusively through your mouth.
