Surprised there isn't a thread on this already.
There is finally a for-reals-no-take-backs hard firm for-sure release date now of 11/24/10. As in, stores now are already receiving shipments by the truckload to get in grubber little customer hands next week.

Anyone else super hyped for this? I've been following the hysteria in detail the past couple weeks and am totally pumped for this game. I've always been a fan of racing karts, so I'm sure I will take advantage of that and the NASCAR modes.

PSN tag is rickscarf if you want to add me for online racing. I tried out a wheel but don't have the right furniture configuration to use it comfortably so I won't be buying one I don't think.

If I still had my PS3 Id get it. I had a Prologue and I had the force feedback wheel and everything. It was awesome.

Also, I like the new NFS better. I know, this is a simulation and NFS is definitely not, but I'm not much of a car guy so I go for fun over accuracy in my racing game. Midnight Club 4 lyfe, then NFS, then GT then Forza. The first Forza was awesome, but 2 and 3 were hella boring.

Yeah I know what you mean mr .e. Most other racing games are more 'fun' I find also, but at the same time, they're generally pretty easy.
I don't know which type of racing game I prefer tbh.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer Burnout for entertainment but GT is the ultimate in simulation at the moment. It kicks Forza right in its fetid crotch. As an xbox man it is pretty much the only thing that I wish I could get and can't.

GT has always been the best racing sim really.
For fun, I'm not a big racing person really so I haven't played them all, but I'd say Grid or Burnout. Oh fuck that actually, Wipeout is the best racing game when it comes to fun.

I've been playing this a fair bit recently. Very nicely done game, managed to retain the feel of the older ones which is good.

The old feel is what people hate these days though, all the complaining is mostly about the grinding, car restrictions on races, having to soup up your car to compete, etc. Those are all staples of the series.

Well they are staples for a good reason I think. It adds something to when it becomes challenging, sadly this is becoming a foreign concept in modern games.

For proof, join any public online race. I do a couple of large private races each week with people who know how to play the game well and it is a blast. I play (played) online pubbies a couple of times, they are retarded.

The games have definitely got harder as the physics got more accurate. To say otherwise is ridiculous.

I do remember not liking gt1 and 2 because they were too hard, but I was old enough when the 3rd came out to actually enjoy the difficulty heh.
I'm glad they haven't changed that it is actually tricky.
