    Default Some help pricing guns.

Been doing a little research, and I dont have that many details of the guns, but was looking for some input from you guys on a few guns I have an opportunity to buy. Its from an old guy who is too old to really hunt any more, so I believe they are older models, and been through the paces.

    Ithaca M37 12. ga. Wants $265

    Remington 740n 30-06 semi. Wants $275

Some kind of Ruger 9mm. Not sure of the model, with 3 mags. Wants $350. Can anyone thing of a Ruger 9mm that is around $350 used?

    Thompson Contender with a 30-30 AND a .357 barrel. Wants $450

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I don't know much about them other than Ithaca pump guns have a loyal following.

The 740 Woodsmaster was disco in 1959, they are pretty good woods rifles but may lack the accuracy for the long shot. The price is pretty good, even better if it has a decent scope

That price seems a tad high for a used Ruger if it is the P85 or P89, those sell on Gunbroker for under $300

The Contender with two barrels is a pretty good deal if it's in good shape, even better if one or both of the barrels are scoped or the older tapered contour. Of the guns listed here it is the one I would buy. Barrels alone generally sell for $125 - 175 each used and frames go for $250 to 325.

If the Ithaca is an older model that you can slam fire, Id get that.

He ended up not wanting to sell the Ithaca. I think I pissed him off with my bartering skills. His asking prices were for what he bought them for, not the used value. I ended up just getting the P85 for $300 with 3 mags and a bunch of ammo. Still think I overpaid a bit, but...it happens.
