Okay, so while nerding out the other day I got to thinking about which super heroes could take on which. Better yet, what super hero teams (Avengers, Justice League, X-Men, etc) could dominate the others. So in this thread post what super hero teams you'd like to see dish it out, your predictions on who'd win and why.

For me...Avengers vs. Justice League.

Superman vs The Sentry: I gotta say the Sentry would win. Not only does the Sentry have all the powers and strengths Superman has, he has plenty of other powers including body modification, limited telepathic abilities and, oh yeah, he can fucking resurrect himself.

Batman vs. Iron Man: Two rich boys battle it out. Thing is, I think Iron Man would get this one because his toys are a lot more bad ass, especially his Hulk Buster gear.

The Martian Manhunter vs The Hulk: While I love the Hulk, I think John Jones would win this one. His telepathy is pretty bad ass, but dealing with an enraged Hulk would be a challenge.

Wonder Woman vs Ms. Marvel: I think they are evenly match, gonna call it a draw.

Green Lantern vs. Thor: I think Thor gots it in the bag. Green Lantern is a DC powerhouse but Thor is a fucking God.

The Flash Vs Quicksilver: Honestly does anyone care who'd win?

Aqua Man vs The Wasp: The two most useless superheroes ever. I'd say the Wasp would win because he has plenty of gismos and powers that are better then talking to fish.

So there you have it. Now get your geek on and let's here your arguments or your own lineups.

Superman vs the Sentry: Ignoring the fact that the law of comics states that Superman doesn't lose (even when he died, he still won the battle - also he didn't technically die), Superman has beaten the Hulk, and the Hulk has taken the Sentry to a stalemate, therefore, Superman would beat the Sentry.

Batman vs Iron Man: The law of comics states that Batman doesn't lose (even when he died, he still won the battle - also he didn't technically die). He had been planning for this encounter for the past 10 years and just as it looks like he's about to lose he presses a button that causes Iron Man to inexplicably explode.

The Martian Manhunter vs The Hulk: While the martian manhunter is technically almost as powerful as superman, the law of superman/batman doesn't apply to him so this would be a more even fight than superman vs the hulk. this one would be tought to call, but I'd have to give the match to The Hulk based on raw strength.

Wonder Woman vs Ms Marvel: Ms Marvel's powers are too inconsistent to have her in any kind of match-up. Wonder Woman is consistently at strength class 100 while Ms Marvel fluctuates at 70 - 100, with her secondary abilities based on how the writer is feeling. On the other hand, in the past Wonder Woman has gotten her ass handed to her by Storm, so this match goes to Ms. Marvel.

Green Lantern (assuming Hal Jordan) vs Thor: While Thor is a "god" he's a marvel universe god which is just basically another super-human. This would be another fairly even match, as Hal Jordan is used to taking on heavy hitters like Thor. That being said, Hal Jordan may be too reckless to be able to handle Thor in a one on one fight, so I'll give this match to goldilocks in this case. (For the record John Stewart wouldn't have the power to take on thor, kyle rayner wouldn't have the confidence, but Guy Gardner might be able to take Thor at least to a standstill until the rest of the corps arrived)

The Flash vs Quicksilver: The Flash' power set goes way beyond super speed. No contest in this match-up.

Aqua Man vs Hank Pym (he only called himself 'the wasp' for 3 issues): This one is the candidate for "who cares". Outside of the water, Hank would win with some crazy device, in the water Aqua Man would probably overpower him

I strongly disagree on the first two because fuck the laws of comics. The Sentry was suffering from major paranoia about the Void and held back during his brawl with the Hulk. He didn't even break a sweat when defeating one of Galactus' Heralds who could cut a fucking planet in half.

Batman's greatest toys are, at best, the medium range of what Tony Stark has. Batman has a suit that can stand up to Bane. Well, Iron Man's very first suit could have done that AND shot fucking lasers.

And just to prove that the laws of comics aren't concrete and their creators are flawed, I will present this:

JLA: Tower of Babel is one of my favorite DC comics. Basically, somebody (I won't spoil who) gets hold of all of Batman's plans on how to take out everyone in the Justice League, then takes out everyone in the Justice League. Good good read.

Ok, here is the list of things Batman has on file to deal with people.

* Martian Manhunter is covered with nanites that convert the outer layer of his skin into magnesium, causing him to burst into fire (his greatest weakness) upon exposure to air. He later survives by wearing an airtight water-filled suit provided by Aquaman, then waiting until he can shed enough skin cells to function normally. Batman didn't anticipate this strategy because he never expected Martian Manhunter to survive so long.
* Aquaman is rendered hydrophobic due to an altered form of the Scarecrow's fear toxin. Without water, he would die in a matter of hours. Martian Manhunter uses his telepathy to generate an illusion of him in a desert when hydrating him in a tank full of water, although he is forced to more directly help Aquaman overcome the effects of the toxin when he regains consciousness in the tank before the serum wears off.
* Plastic Man is frozen solid, then shattered by a hammer by [someone]. Afterward, Flash reassembles him, allowing Plastic Man to recover.
* Green Lantern is rendered blind by his own power ring from a post-hypnotic suggestion introduced while he was asleep and the ring placed on him at night. As an artist, Kyle is unable to function without his vision to guide the ring's power, but he is able to overcome the post-hypnotic suggestion after his ring is temporarily removed and the methods behind the attack are explained to him.
* Thanks to a nanite injected into her ear, Wonder Woman is trapped in a virtual reality battle against an opponent who she cannot defeat and is her equal in every way. Her refusal to surrender under any circumstance would eventually cause her heart to fail. The nanite is removed by Plastic Man after he recovers.
* A specially designed "vibra-bullet" strikes Flash in the back of the neck, causing him to experience seizures at light speed before it is removed by Superman's heat vision. Although only exposed to the weapon for 22 minutes, Wally's relativistic speed makes the experience feel like months.
* Superman's skin becomes transparent after exposure to Red Kryptonite, an artificial creation of Batman's made by exposing a green kryptonite sample to radiation developed in the event of him simply wanting to stop Superman for a while rather than actually killing him (For which he would use his original sample of kryptonite). As Superman is powered by solar energy, his skin's transparency causes a sensory overload by his internal organs' direct exposure to sunlight without his skin as a proper solar filter to the extent that he can hear conversations on Earth while he himself is located on the moon.

if I were batman I would probably leave out an important part of each step (if i was dumb enough to write my plans down in the first place), just in case my enemies would get it

I'm pretty sure Batman assumes that he would only have to use those plans if the JLA member turned bad, not if he turned bad and wanted to beat the JLA.
