Maybe I'll press the auto-OC button after I open her up today and throw in some more ram .

I know people keep telling me not to be worried, but I am very paranoid as to why my ram usage is high. The ram is on a great sale anyways. I've been reading x64 systems, the more they have the more they love. But the calculations still just don't make sense to me, as I used to run a 4gb system just fine, and now i'm already consuming 5gb's with no games open. 54% usage right now on my ram is bugging me .

    I mean,
    8109 Total
    3700 cached
    3750 available
    50 free

just don't sound right to me. I understand that the rest of my available ram is cached for super fetch, but where the hell did I end up using 5 gigs :P. I've already ran through all my start up programs etc but meh. If it doesn't fix anything, then oh well, at least I have more ram.. in case I ever get back into video editing .
Well, if you get BSOD, it isn't a big deal at all. It just means you've reached the limit, or something needs tweaking to increase the limit. All you do when you crash, is go into the bios and lower the settings to what they were. Same procedure as raising it to overclock it, except you turn the multiplier down and not up. And/or the vcore.

As for the RAM, yeah 5gb idle is quite a lot...you scanned for spyware and such? If you have, what the hell are you running in the background lol. My old pc of like 4 years without a wipe had 4gb and didn't get higher than 2gb while idle. Also yeah, having more than 50% used RAM constantly is very annoying.
    I'm currently using 1.87gb (23%)

Yeah.. 5GB idle.. just a bunch of chrome tabs and such. I do need to slim down on processes.. I run like 90 or so somehow.. I don't even fricken know T_T . it's kinda bothersome when you click the up arrow on the bottom right to show more processes, I've gotlike 3 rows of 5 icons down there, plus a few on the side.

I wish I could slim down but I really do use and need all those programs lol.

I just bought AppleTV several months ago and I did look into this, but didn't want to wait. I will probably buy one when the initial shock is over and they actually have them in stock. XBMC on a Pi would kick ass.
