Well, I've been going through my photos and videos, but I guess I forgot to take any photos. I now have time to binge out on some games. So far so good as everything is beautiful.
I would like to do this every year. I'll probably be upgrading this computer over the next 3 to 5 years before I throw another two plus grand on a computer.

Didn't get round to taking pics at the weekend, so I guess I will post the shit ones later. I will take some better ones this weekend...

Some bright ass lights haha. And what's that pump thingy? Is that a water cooler? (Never seen one, never researched it :P).
yeah the lights are pretty bright lol..thats on the brightest setting though.
yeah the cpu has a closed loop watercooling kit on it. its working well. using silent fans with the radiator that came with it too, so it's totally silent.
these kits are nice because they're easy to fit and require no maintenance. you just fit them like a normal cpu cooler, attatch some fans to the radiator, the radiator to the case, and done. the tubes/coolant are already done for you.

That's a pretty nice little water cooling solution. Looks very clean! It looks like bigger companies just rebrand it.
I like the price tag. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835209049
It is cheaper than my Noctua heatsink/fan.
I'm happy with it. It's not as cool as I was expecting, although load temps are lower than normal load temps, and it cools off very quickly.
I think it is hotter because I'm not using the standard fans it came with, but some ultra quiet, low rpm fans so...
edit: also thank you

One day... that'll be the day I resort to overclocking that I need mega cooling. I idle at 24C right now, well It's semi cold here in California, hows your temp?
I idle at 49-52 39-42, temps on load after a good few hours gaming (on a heavy going game) get to 68-72.
This is at the top end of temps for my cpu, but I don't care, OC and all. Still safe temps, so I just won't push the OC any further.
When I first boot up its 25-32...
24C is pretty damn low man...I think you'd be fine to overclock with the cooling you got atm. What cpu and cooler you got?
edit: got my temps wrong

Just 3-4 case fans and my stock i5-2500k cooler.. T_T. Antec 300 case. Max I usually ever get to is 60-70 on games
You could overclock it a little with stock cooler I think.
I would recommend getting a semi decent cooler and overclock it decently with peace of mind.
Your motherboard might even do it for you.

Yup, my motherboard came with 1 touch buttons that overclock CPU for me. Gigabyte's Easy Tune 6.
It's default at 3.4ghz, but i could clock to 3.6, 3.8, or 4.1 at the click of a button. I don't wanna break nothin T_T. And I think a lot of people could clock my videocard much harder than it already is 710/900/1420, but like I said, for now I don't even need it, and I still fear something will go wrong :P. So meh.
I'd be shocked if you broke something with the temps you're getting.
Breaking cpus due to overclocking is largely in the past now tbh. The worst you'll get is a blue screen, in which case just set it back to what you were getting before bsod.

For sure bro, my old computer heated my room nicely for years.
That was overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3ghz.
edit: I say that only half seriously. Low temps are good man.
but yeah...I do think you should OC. Seems you have the capability for it np, and you can get more speed out of what you got. Your motherboard will make it easy...I don't see a reason not to.
You say you're afraid of breaking it, but the only way you'd do that is if you overclocked it massively right away and had like really shit cooling. Which you don't, and if you read some guides for your chip, watch some videos, or just use your motherboards ability...you'll be fine.
The key to overclocking is increasing by small amounts and testing and then repeat until you get a crash, then go back down one notch until it didn't crash.
Or, just use mobo . Too easy nowadays...from what I've read though, mobo auto overclock abilties usually set the vcore too high, just to be safe for stability. But it will raise temps. So if you do that, test it for a bit, then maybe think about lowering the vcore? It's up to you. I'm going to try this at the weekend. My cvore is currently 1.3561, but I've read 1.3-1.35 is usually for getting 4.5ghz on the 2500k. I'm on 4.2ghz, so I might try to get it down to 1.3 or maybe even 1.25...see how it goes

Hahaha, I guess time to go take a study break and play a game and heat up to 50!
pfff heat up to 50....oc that shit! loads of room 72-74 is the max safe temps for 2500k. you've got another 20c or so!
laaaooooods of room bruv.

Safe temperatures for an i5 2500k end at about 80C and over. If you are benching, you don't want to go over 90C.
Yeah I've read that also...safe operating temps anyway.
I don't think I would like my temps getting above 74, and wouldn't want to recommend any higher to someone else if I wouldn't like my temps going higher (wouldn't want to be responsible for someone losing their cpu heh)..so yeah I said low to mid 70s heh.
Is nice to know the temps can go that high and still operate safely though.
This is even more encouragement for you to overclock crapoo.

Maybe.. . I'm curious, if it does crash, the settings aren't permanent and prevent it from turning on again? What would I need to do if that were to happen.
Maybe I'll press the auto-OC button after I open her up today and throw in some more ram .
I know people keep telling me not to be worried, but I am very paranoid as to why my ram usage is high. The ram is on a great sale anyways. I've been reading x64 systems, the more they have the more they love. But the calculations still just don't make sense to me, as I used to run a 4gb system just fine, and now i'm already consuming 5gb's with no games open. 54% usage right now on my ram is bugging me .
I mean,
8109 Total
3700 cached
3750 available
50 free
just don't sound right to me. I understand that the rest of my available ram is cached for super fetch, but where the hell did I end up using 5 gigs :P. I've already ran through all my start up programs etc but meh. If it doesn't fix anything, then oh well, at least I have more ram.. in case I ever get back into video editing .

anyone buying a Raspberry Pi?

Well, if you get BSOD, it isn't a big deal at all. It just means you've reached the limit, or something needs tweaking to increase the limit. All you do when you crash, is go into the bios and lower the settings to what they were. Same procedure as raising it to overclock it, except you turn the multiplier down and not up. And/or the vcore.
As for the RAM, yeah 5gb idle is quite a lot...you scanned for spyware and such? If you have, what the hell are you running in the background lol. My old pc of like 4 years without a wipe had 4gb and didn't get higher than 2gb while idle. Also yeah, having more than 50% used RAM constantly is very annoying.
I'm currently using 1.87gb (23%)
lol, 3rd person today to mention this to me.
No I doubt I will buy one but the idea is very cool.

Yeah.. 5GB idle.. just a bunch of chrome tabs and such. I do need to slim down on processes.. I run like 90 or so somehow.. I don't even fricken know T_T . it's kinda bothersome when you click the up arrow on the bottom right to show more processes, I've gotlike 3 rows of 5 icons down there, plus a few on the side.
I wish I could slim down but I really do use and need all those programs lol.
Buy some more ram would be my suggestion I guess.

8gb sounds so sufficient, but yeah i just picked up 8gb more. My usage will still probably stay high.. but at least it'll look like only half as much %!
Yay! Yeah.. I just booted up.. usage is still 3Gb.. and I JUST booted up -___-.Skype Fraps Steam Avast Afterburner and some things for my Logitech G15 keyboard.. -_-
At least usage is only 20%!! But whatever, yay I got 16 gigs of ram now!
Also, would anyone here say that overclocking slightly shortens the life span of products?

One of my cores got to 77c today while playing crysis 2 with dx11 patch and hi res textures.
Definately lowering the vcore at the weekend. Hopefully I won't have to underclock.

pfff its still safe!
I googled what people have their vcore on for 4.2ghz on a 2500k and it seems to be 1.25. Some even said it was lower.
So yeah, my vcore is set wayyyy too high (1.3561v). I'm gonna save it!
I guess they just used the motherboard auto overclock. I heard those features overdo it on the vcore to help make it extra stable...
If I can get it to 1.3 I'll be happy tbh. 1.25 would be epic. Can't wait to see what my temps are going to go down to.
What are you running your 2500k on? vcore I mean.
edit: also no it feels awesome, pushing it to it's limits! fine tune that mofo

I'll check when I get home, but yeah I think I'll just stick to using whatever settings Gigabyte already set for me, the easy overclock buttons I mean. IF i do choose to overclock ^_^ :P
Well, just tried to lower the vcore.
My motherboard is showing totally different vcore to coretemp and cpu-z. I have no idea.
mobo says 1.17v with offset of +0.020
cpuz says 1.35...doesn't add up. wth.
cpuz doesn't change at all, neither does coretemp though, and they should...
somethings up.
I'm looking into it.
edit: no idea. I think my mobo readings are off. guess I will spend this week gaining enough confidence to update the bios and try again next weekend.
