As the title of the topic hints, I'm in the market for a decent quality gaming headset. I've recently built myself a desktop PC and bought myself a cheap (10 pounds) microphone. Ideally i would have liked something a bit more expensive, but after having a look around on Amazon it became clear that standalone microphones come in 2 categories, professional music recording and cheap plastic shit and next to nothing in between, so i forked out a bit of money for one of the better 'cheap plastic shits'. Unfortunately after testing it in a few skype calls it has turned out to be just that, its incredibly quiet even at max volume unless i deep throat it and, for the lack of a better place, it is behind my keyboard and picks up my key presses 10 times louder then my voice despite having a fairly quiet MS sidewinder X4.
As I've had a laptop only for the last 7 or 8 years I've always used the inbuilt microphone which have been pretty decent as I've always had a high end macbook pro, however due to the lack of need to buy a decent microphone i've never really looked at headsets in great detail and so I'm pretty much clueless as to what's good.
What I'm looking for:
50-100 pounds price range
Open or closed design is both fine
My current headphones are Sennheiser 555HDs and I'd like something of similar sound quality if possible
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated
