I keep hearing that getting no-name brand DVDs sometimes results in good-rebranded disks, other times they are just coasters. We'll have to see.

I was thinking of DVDs as a backup because my 1.5TB drive is mostly replaceable video files. I figured $20 for a 100 pack of DVDs might give me 400Gb, which is $0.05/GB. 1.5TB is $130, $0.0867/GB. Plus I could purchase DVDs and I could back up files as I felt like it, not having to plunk down $130 at once. Also, if say, there was a power surge, odds are the DVDs would not be damaged.

But on the other hand, they are DVDs. Alot, of DVDs.
