    Default Networking issues

Ok, so at work I plug my laptop into the Cat 5 jack to get online, and that works for about an hour, hour and a half, until I get disconnected from the internet. However, when I try to connect again, it says that I'm already connected to the network, but I have only local access and can't get online. This doesn't seem to be a problem for other people at work. Is this something wrong with my network card? Or is it something with the network?

Sounds like something on the network. Does it work fine otherwise? I know at my old job we put something in place on a conference room that any pc could go straight out to the internet. But if a pc was on the domain, it'd be on the network like they were sitting at their desk.

I'd imagine there could easily be something configured for a 1 hr window. Did you try doing...

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

    on the windows cli?

Can you ping the gateway? Can you ping anything out on the internet? (try 4.2.2.2) Can you ping your DNS servers?

Run these commands, then reboot. This will reset the network stack back to factory default.

    Code:
    netsh int ip reset log.txt
    netsh winsock reset catalog
    ipconfig /flushdns
    nbtstat -R
