G1. Too bad I can't connect my pc to the net with it.
I picked up one last night. So far I like it.
Im not a fan of on screen keyboards. Also my old phone drowned so i needed a new one.
I've had mine since December. It's pretty sick.
So there are a bunch of things I like about it and some I don't.
GPS - I love it but the software is incomplete. Or I haven't figured out how to do the things it should do. Waypoints, routing options, a to b to c, miles to go, travel speed, bread crumb. I love how you can look up a place on google then click the address to open it on maps.
Wifi - love it
Qwerty - It is still a little awkward to me but I'll get used to it. Fonky to use when charging.
Battery life - I'm not a power user so I can't imagine what you guys go through. I have to charge 2 to 3 times a day.
UI - Productive except while driving.
Bluetooth - WTF? No transfer? That is retarded!
That's all I can think of for now. Got to go charge...
I only have to charge mine once a day, but I leave the WiFi off when Im not at home. I really havent used the gps that much yet, have one in my car already.
One thing I dislike is having to use the screen to dial numbers.
I'd take your battery out and look it over. That can't be right at all. The first time you charged it wasn't on a car charger, was it? That can seriously shorten the life of a lithium battery. If your battery appears swollen at all, go back to T-Mobile and see if they can get you a new one since you haven't had it 30 days yet. Also, only charge it when you ABSOLUTELY have to. Lithium ion batteries essentially only have so many "charge cycles" in their lifetime (typically around 300ish). Once you plug your phone in, no matter how long its on for, it burns up a charge cycle. Once those charge cycles are up, you'll be charging your phone close to 12 times a day just to keep it on.
Also, use car chargers sparingly. And when you do use them, take them off the charger ASAP once its done charging. Car chargers are DC only, so they're constantly pumping power into your battery, even when it doesn't need it. Your battery can't dissipate energy like it could with an AC/DC charger, so it collects it, and severely shortens the life of your battery. It could also make it completely unusable by causing swelling.
I had the GPS and wifi on. maybe it will last longer now.
What is your favorite app?
I'm using ToggleWiFi and HelloAIM a lot. Also are you sure you can't tether with the G1?
Compare Everywhere and Flashlight are two cool apps.
I second that Compare Everywhere is pretty cool. I like TuneWiki a bit too I guess.
You can use it as a modem but I haven't learned yet. I used bluetooth before. Signal is spotty in my house.
Also, I forget the name at the moment but the app that lets you identify songs by sampling them through the speaker is AWESOME.
I particularly enjoy that prior to installing an app it tells you exactly what components it's taking control of when you use it.
I kind of like chompsms. Not for the bubles but for the screen keyboard.
Wished the trackball was a mouse. How do you select text on a web page?
Wow I'm a loser who double posts.

I found another thing I like on it. I like the way it syncs your contacts to your gmail. Also been trying to use the calendar a bit.
Triple post.
Not really. A double post is where you post twice the same thing accidentally or on purpose depending on if you're a real loser or just accidentally a loser.
