Default I need to send a huge file.

I have a 11.2 gb file that i need to give somebody.
I'm in a college dorm, so i don't think that P2P or bittorrent will work.
The person is on the third floor so i can't direct connect using a cable either.

I know that DVD's have 4.7 gb storage capabilities, but the burning of the disc would take forever wouldn't it?

The file i need to send is an ISO file too. There a way to split the file in half?

    Suggestions anyone?

    An external HDD.

Or use a program called winrar. It's free. It will zip up the files into sizable chucks of your choice. Then burn them onto DVDs. Shouldn't take a considerable amount of time.

As long as your floor and his are behind the same firewall, you could set up an ftp server (this one is dead simple if you use windows) and then have him download it from you. There's a simple ftp client included with windows, otherwise most web browsers can serve as a point and click ftp client. You'll need to get your computer's ip, probably the easiest way (again for windows) is to open a command prompt and run ipconfig.

Pull your HDD and walk it up the stairs. Or use an elevator if there is one and you feel a little short of breathe.

Back in residence whenever we did file transfer from msn messenger between computers it gave us ridiculous speeds, so you can try that.

FTP or Hamachi unless you can physically move the disk.

Try send it over aim/msn/what ever instant messenger. On my campus, it's actually faster than if you were to transfer it on a USB external drive, walk it over, etc.
