1st gen user here. Getting the 3gs in feburary when my contract expires.

yeah so i see.

well, i at least probably won't get a smartphone until the successor to android comes out, which google already has under development.

The nice thing about android phones is that even if you get one with cupcake any updates or newer versions of android they post will most likely work with your phone. G1's were able to upgrade to cupcake with no problem and an entirely new version is just one flash away.
