Ok, first a bit of a backstory.

The main drive on my PC ( a 3 year old E6400, asus p5b with 6GB RAM) was making some loud clunking noises when turning on/off. Sunday morning it started freezing up, locking everything up.. so I went to best buy and replaced it.

installed Windows 7, set everything back up.

Today, my secondary drive is hanging in spots. honestly, this is more than a coincidence, so I decided to try and salvage what I can (The secondary drive very well may be fucked) and buy a new motherboard/processor/RAM.

So I went to newegg and ordered:

Core i7 920
ASRock X58 Extreme
Crucial 6GB DDR3 1333 Triple Channel Kit

my case, video card & PSU should be fine. I have a more powerful PSU laying around should I need it.

Anyway, good choice or not? The motherboard was recommended by Tom's Hardware, and was about $50 cheaper than a comparable Asus. I think I had an ASRock MB way, way back in the day, but I don't remember much about it.

Anyway, Any opinions? it's too late to send it back now, so feel free to laugh at me or say "holy shit, Tengu! for $550 that's a killer deal!"
