transfering data 360-360

so i have an old xbox 360 with all my data on it, but i just got a new, 360 elite because the old one broke. (my harddrive is intact.)
how can i upload my data from one xbox to the other? will an ethernet cable work?

Unless you have one of their memory cards, then you may be able to move your game saves.

If you still have the harddrive, just plug that bitch into the elite and all of it should be good(pretty sure all the game updates and everything is on that rather than the console)

it is, but i've only got a .8 gigabytes of memory storage left (what with download content and arcade games) and its running out pretty quickly.
