    Default Underneath iPhone Battery

I've been toying with a broken iPhone and I'm trying to replace the back covering, but when I took out the battery I noticed that there is a small silver sticker that sits directly underneath it. In the replacement back covering that I have there isn't one of these, and when I try to pull it up it won't come up without destroying.

I have a hunch that it has to do with grounding the battery somehow but I'm really not sure. Do I need to replace that sticker on the new casing? If no one has any ideas I might just try without it and pray it works because I can't find anywhere that sells these stickers - primarily because I don't have a clue what to call it.

If anyone has anyone ideas I'd love to hear them.

Here's a picture if anyone case:

I'm no electronics expert but if you're talking about that big silver thing in the middle, I'd venture a guess that it's to dissipate heat.
Google for ihpone teardown or something similar, several sites have posted complete sets of taking the phone apart and labeling it's parts. As you said, if you can find out what it's called you may be able to order one.

You're actually probably right, I shoulda thought of that.

But I was looking at a bunch of teardowns and no one even mentions it because 99% of the time they are just showing how to disassemble, not necessarily exchange backings.

Another problem I've run into is that the beveler (the silver piece) that came with the new backing doesn't have the metal bracket that the vibration unit screws into. It seems like it is a seperate piece that wasn't included.

So what I'm thinking is that it looks adheared on, not soldered, so I'm thinking if I use a heat gun I can take it off and readhear it. But would I want to use an apoxy or a glue?

If it is a heat sink, you want to make sure that the adhesive layer conducts heat well. There are some epoxies available that do this.

I don't know if you could get away with just a really, really thin layer of an adhesive that isn't made to conduct heat. You might be able to.

Well I still can't find anything for a heatsink for the iphone, but what if I used thermal paste?

If I just used like 3 drops and put the battery down on it, it should be good right?

The sticker pictured isn't the adhesive that holds the battery down, it is what the battery sits on. The battery itself adheres by a tape on the bottom of it.

Hey guys, I've figured it all out. It actually looks really nice.

If anyone has any broken iPhones (cracked glass or anything) I can fix it for you for free if you just buy the repair parts.

I know probably no one will need this, but I thought I'd at least offer!

Or if anyone has any iphones that are damaged and have replaced them already, I'd be willing to buy them off of you. Pm me if you are interested.
