Default Transmission not properly deleting torrents... [UBUNTU]

I was downloading like 30 GB worth of torrents on Transmission, and they were all getting low or no seeds, so I canceled them. But its still taking up the space on my HDD somewhere, and I cant find the file where they are stored when they are being downloaded. Anyone know how I could find them to delete them?

I'm not familar with transmission (back when I used linux on the desktop azureus was pretty much the way to go) but if you haven't deleted the folder that held the half-downloaded torrents there may be some hidden cache files left. Try doing this (looks like View menu->show hidden files) in the folder your torrents were in and see if there's anything there.

When I managed a bunch of Linux servers I noticed the hd's would fill up on occasion at one time due to a samba issue. It would create a massive log somewhere in the file system. In order to track it down, I connected to it via winscp (ssh) which is like an ftp client. I would narrow down the folders and sub folders by viewing the file sizes in the properties.

You could probably do this from the file viewer in Ubuntu. Open it as root to get the best results.

That's odd. I haven't used it myself but I assume it displayed the total file size of your partition. Did that match the size displayed by your HDD?

I just glimpsed at your post, I'm not sure if you solved it. But have you tried going to Transmission's setting options. It should have a setting where you can change where downloaded and incomplete files are stored. From there, you can look where the incomplete files are being stored (you can change it here too if you want so it's easier in the future). After you find out where they are stored, go to where the files are and delete them. Hope I helped, it's been a while since I've used Transmission.
