Default Anyone run Windows 2008 Server (x64) with an nvidia video card?

Ok, so my hard drive went tits up last week, and I had heard some good things about windows 2008 server performing better than vista in many ways. So, I decided to give it a crack.

I've been having problems with the 64-bit vista drivers for my nvidia 8800GT though. 2d Desktop graphics are slow, and sometimes leave "trails" when you move windows around. I've even gone so far as completely turn off any and every possible eye-candy setting. (It looks a lot like win2k right now!)

I dropped another 4GB RAM in this box as well, and I still can't run more than one instance of Eve Online without the machine chugging, and I'm pretty sure it's due to graphics issues. I had no problem running two instances of Eve in vista 32 on 2GB RAM, and I could even run three pretty stable.

Just thought I'd pick your collective brains.

I played with it on a 32-bit VM and a couple older P4's I had laying around at my old job. It ran great, but I never used it as a desktop OS.

Sounds like you have all kinds of HD issues

    Good luck.

I would highly consider investing in a RAID 1 setup first.

I never keep anything really important on this machine. I have a SAN for such things.

I'm running 08 64bit as my desktop, but I don't have a second screen setup. I also have the 8800GT with no issues.

I thought they released 64bit windows as a security option, since nothing runs in it?

Actually, it was released as a screening feature to more easily identify retards.
