Thread: lawl got owned by an AIM virus

Sigh...was on AIM and got an IM from a random person saying "Click here for pix baby" - no i didn't click on the link.

instead i said no, and then I highlighted the link thinking about sending it to a friend to laugh about it, then i thought about it and they might click it and get the virus. Anyhow I was signed off just seconds after sending "no" and attempting to highlight the link. I've been looking for a fix ever since, ran SpyBot and Avast, in the process of running Adaware. I'm gonna provide a HiJackThis log.

I am unable to log into this SN anymore. My old sn works but the buddylist is so old. I don't have a backup of my buddy list on my laptop - possibly my computer but i'm not getting to there for a couple days. Can't log in using my ipod touch or blackberry anymore. The whole account got fucked in the butt. I also can't log in using gmail, I can login using facebook but that buddy list is different and it's basically like facebook chat (I guess? i'm new to logging in through facebook).

Once you get a new PW, change it to something else other than what it was. That virus most likely gave them your credentials and is sending your friends a bunch of garbage.

Yeah already tried it, still same problem. Ended up just changing the password to asdfasdfasdf so it's not similar to anything. I just gave up and made a new screen name.. If only i can get on that old sn to retrieve the buddylist but oh well. I went through the buddylist on lifestream and only ended up adding the people I talk to so my buddylist went from about 200 to 40. Much neater now.

Back in the college days, everyone had IM clients installed on every PC lab computer and most having autosave enabled. Wiping contact lists made easy.

I didn't know people still IM, anymore.

I have an ipod touch, a blackberry, and an iphone.

touch to replace my 4 year old broke ipod video . blackberry free with renewal of 2 year contract. that plus i'm a verizon boy yahh. sometimes i'm using them both and put them on top of eachother... it's a bulky iphone .
