Default Bought some cheap lights for the Iroc

There have been some rave reviews on thirdgen.org about these lights. I picked up an h4 conversion kit with 4 headlights, H4 bulbs, and also pig tails, clear front parking lens/turn signals, and clear/white reflective turn signal lenses.

The price was $160 shipped, with insurance. They are a huge upgrade from stock as far as looks go, and the light quality is easily 10x better. The only issue is that with the high beams engaged, it draws too much current and actually makes the lights strobe on and off with or without a load on the car. So, I need to buy a $25 wiring harness with relays from Summit and do it right. I'm also going to replace the cheap ass Jap bulbs they gave me with the kit for some PIAA's.

The texture isn't quite my taste. Maybe they look better lit up though?

Do you think the 'big three' upgrade would help the high beam problem?

btw, why did your hood look glossy before, but flat now?

According to other guys on the thirdgen site, they either got new (better quality) bulbs or a "real" harness to make the high beam issue go away. As far as the big three upgrade, I assume you mean the charging system? The battery and alt are fine, it's just a 22 year old car with shitty wiring.

The hood looks glossy because it used to have a gel coat when I got it from Harwood. Now it's primer. The weather took care of that. The under side is still nice and shiny.

As for being lit up, yes. There's a big difference when they are lit up. It's just a much cleaner look. The reason I bought these was because my old lights had a burned out low beam bulb. Unfortunately, they were sealed beams so I'd have to replace the whole thing. And I would never just replace one, so I'd end up replacing all 4.

The big three I was referring to has something to do with the actual wiring, not the components. Car audio guys swear by it; like you have to get a good thick wire from the engine block to frame, battery negative to frame, and battery positive to alt positive.

As long as they work, nothing to complain about.

Ahhh okay I see what you mean. Yes, good wiring would definitely be a remedy for this situation!

On a sidenote for this car, I picked up a cheap, rebuilt turbo 350 for it. The 700r4 was broke dick since I first got it. I got so used to shifting it manually and knowing its shift points (since it's clutches and who knows what else is fucked) that I decided to go with a RMVB in the th350. I need a shifter and tq arm brackets and it'll be ready.

I'm still collecting parts for the LS1 swap. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

    Looks better.

Smoked headlights and driving lights would look better though.
