Default Got my FNP 45 Tactical

I went pick up my new FNP 45 Tactical today. I had been getting antsy because it was supposed to be delivered Saturday, but they sent it to the wrong post office. Finally came in this morning though. I snapped a few quick pics of it, but Ill get some better ones later. And Ill probably go make a holster or two for it later today.

Here are my initial impressions though. First thing is the grip. First thing I noticed is how freaking small the grip is for a 15+1 capacity .45. I mean its not SMALL, but its amazing that they managed to cram 15 rounds of .45 in that small of a space. The texturing is awesome. Very grippy without being too rough for ungloved hands (and hours of fondling). It comes with 4 different backstraps too. Two are flat, and two are curved. They are the same size, but one of each has the aggressive texturing and the other has some raised lines that give grip. I went with the flat one with the lines. The one with the checkering seemed like it would dig into my hand too much.

The trigger is awesome. In single action is almost like a 1911. Not quite, but almost. Very smooth and short. In DA it is long and kinda heavy, but consistent. Over all, I love the trigger.

The finish is awesome, and the night sights are sweet. The only thing I find is that Ill have to get used to the mag release. There is a raised portion of the grip above it, and I seem to put half my thumb on that and have to mess with it for a second. But Ill get used to it.

Here are a few pics. Ill get some better ones later.

Trying to decided if the TLR-2s has found a new home.

My RMR came in the mail earlier today. This thing is FAST. It will take some getting used to, but I dont see this being the only pistol I put a red dot on.

I saw a setup quite similar to this one on hickok45's youtube channel. Honestly, I'm shocked that they managed to put 15 rounds in the magazine. I remember just a few years ago, it seemed like the only pistol that gave you .45 capacity like that was a GLOCK, and everyone said that those had rather fat grips. These days, we have 21SFs and also the Springfield XD, but it looks like the FNP Tactical is really pushing the envelope with 15 rounds to a mag.

    How's the accuracy on it?

The Glocks and XDs only hold 13 rounds too. This mag pretty much the exact same size as the Glock and XD mags too, minus the bumper on the floorplate.
And its pretty accurate too. This is an offhand group at 10 yards.

And I got my surefire X300 for it the other day. I plan on making a holster for it Monday. Im thinking OD green.

And the grip size is AMAZING compared to a G21. Its almost the same size as an M9.
