Default New AR-15 stuff. Daniel Defense....

I decided to treat myself to a little Christmas present, so I ordered a Daniel Defense 12.0 Omega rail, a low profile Yankee Hill gas block to fit under it, and a new Yankee Hill Flash hider/Comp. The total for all the parts was something like $380 shipped. This rail is ROCK solid, and its free float too, so it does not tough the barrel.

I got some new Pmags for Christmas too.

How much lighter are those mags than a regular mag?

Never really weighed them, but they are lighter.

They look really neat, either way.

I just went to my dads to pop off a few rounds. I wanted to make sure it was cycling right since I had to replace the gas block. Works fine. Man I love this rail.

Does the front guard handle make it hold steadier while shooting? It seems like it would being able to pull it back into your shoulder with both hands. When firing a rifle my forward hand is usually nothing more than a rest.

Its more comfortable for me. Having my wrist like that is more natural than twisting it to hold it like a regular rifle, and you can really pull it into your shoulder tight.

I've never shot one so I held up my hands in both positions and it does seem more natural. I wonder why they didn't discover this a hundred years ago? See now I want one more...

    Nice. But a few things.

    Tan? Heh.

Also, have you considered getting rail panels/ladders?

Can you mount an optic on the area where the receiver ends and the rail begins?

And the foregrip gives it a sort of M4-esque look, but have you ever seen a folding foregrip? They're neat.

    Tan is the new black.

It has black ones on, but thats only because thats what it came with. Ill be getting some tan ones, but they are like $10 each, and Ill need like 6-7.

Yes. You can mount it anywhere on the rail.

Folding grips are too flimsy. I have NEVER held a folding grip that is a sturdy as a fixed grip. And Ive held some $150 ones at teh gun shop. Im going to get this grip. http://www.lapolicegear.com/caapomawelig.html

Im ordering some Flat Dark Earth (the tan I have) Duracoat next week, and Im going to paint my sight, VFG, flashlight, that grip if I get it,and maybe some aluminum mags FDE.

Tan rails will look nice on it, as will the foregrip you posted. Myself, I'd get a laser sight in addition to a flashlight.

I had a green laser on it and it was badass. It was like a fucking lightsaber. You could see the entire beam. But it burnt out or something. :le sad:

And the main reason Im getting that grip with the flashlight is so I can keep all the accessories on the top or bottom. I just thinks it looks alot more clean like that. And I cant really think of anything Id need that I could mount on it, unless I got some NV goggles.

Nice parts man. Also totally right about the folding grip, everyone I ever seen was a POS in my opinion.

I got new ak parts on the way if dpharms will ever quit having holiday vacations. Sigh, guess thats what you get when you deal with a family oriented company but it'll be ok.

I have set of front quad rails, front grip, rear stock that looks remarkably like yours but in black, and a flash hider, under 160 shipped. Finally got the friggin thread protector nut off the other day, that Dremel I got for Christmas made short work of the tack weld that was holding it on. I need to pick up a couple more mags right quick, metal ones seem to be in short supply and I never met a plastic ak mag I liked.

I'll post up a thread when I get the stuff on with before and after pics.
